For those of you who don't know my first name is Karen.with a K. I seem to invariably run into people I need to give my name to that want to know if it is with a C or a K. In all my years of being a Karen, and knowing Karen's I have probably only known of two that spelled it with a C. Do you run into people wanting to spell your name wrong?
Another thing is people constantly want to put an m in my street name when it's an n. I try to take care to enunciate it so people don't get confused. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

@snowy22315 I could kill whoever let that detail slip on here first.
That is my middle name which I have always been called by. No one in my life has ever addressed me by my legal first name aside from telemarketers and strangers.

One time I did say something about it and if course the person had a cousin or something Karen with a C.

I have only ever heard of your first name being spelt Karen or some east Indians shorten their name from Karindeep to Karin. But the names are not the same.
I often, almost always get my name, Julia, spelt like the month, July.
We live on Capulet Lane, and rarely can anyone spell Capulet.
Didn't anyone read Romeo and Juliet-her last name was Capulet.

I would have thought you would get Julie..Who has ever known somebody named July? Although I have heard of people named June an August.

@snowy22315 I get Jules too, and that just pisses me off to the point where I will repeat my name and advise the person NOT to call me anything otherwise. Julie or Julia are interchangeable for me, and I answer easily to both and give both names also. But when people say Julia or Julie and spell it J-U-L-Y I just shake my head and wonder how they made it out of grade school with such ignorance.

Oh my goodness, I just realized that all this time I didn't know your actual name! But now I'm glad I know! It's nice to formally meet you Karen. I'm Jeff. LOL
I think people joke when they say this, but sometimes people ask me if I spell Jeff with a J (Jeff) or a G (Geoff). I've only met one Geoff in my life, so it's not really a common spelling of my name.
But I also like to mess with people when they ask me if I spell my name with a J or a G by telling them I spell it with a PH. When they get that confused look on their face, I tell them my name is spelled Jeph instead of Jeff. A total joke of course, but they fall for it every time!

My first name ( a German name) is often miss spelled here. And my last name is so difficult for people that when I take garments to the dry cleaners, I give my grandmother´s last name as my own.

I have never heard of Karen starting with a C. That must be frustrating. My husband’s name does have a different spelling than most. We constantly have to spell his name out to people.

I gave up a long time ago to explain my first name Rasma a typical Latvian name so when I started writing and blogging a lot online I chose to put my first and second name together RasmaSandra so that everyone would know that it was me,

I've never seen Karen spelled with a C. People always ask me if my name is y or ie at the end and I tell them it's just I.
My maiden name was Dutch/German so I always just spelled it.

My daughters name is Karen (with a a K) and I've never really seen it spelled with a C but I can see where it might be spelled that way.
As for me most people mispronounce my name rather than misspell it. All my working years I was commonly called Marion, Madeline, Maryann instead of my given name Marilyn. If I corrected someone they would say
"oh like Monroe"

I have a fairly common first name (full version and the short version by which I go). People manage to come up with all sorts of weird spellings for it. I do know others with alternative spellings but mine, I believe, is the usual and most common spelling. I would assume that Karen is with a K. I've only ever known one Caren.
My eldest son automatically spells his name for people. While it is the traditional spelling of his name, it does seem more usual to use other versions nowadays. There are also several spellings with no standard one. My younger son has better luck, although people will put a 'Y' at the end when it's 'IE' (in his preferred version of his name) or will spell his legal (unisex) name the girl's way rather than the boy's.
Also, I live in a town that has a similar name to another town. The two places begin with the same three letters and the last bit can sound similar if not enunciated clearly. Another problem with that is that more people have heard of the other town, and mine is pretty unknown outside of my area!

@snowy22315 We have lots of 'interesting' place names in the UK that would likely get a similar reaction!

I had a little chuckle because we just met this man in our tai chi class who goes by "Karlo with a K"
. It's interesting because all the Carlo's I know, it's with a C . . . just like all Karen's that I know have been with a K. But I guess these days there are just so many variations. My name is Japanese - believe me, it has been butchered all my life
.

What a coincidence, my name is Karen, too! Since the advent of those “Karen” memes I don’t have people asking how to spell it anymore.
