I want something different. Don't get me wrong I do love my usual meals but being a cook my entire life I like trying new dishes.
I have three unpublished books on cooking that range from vegan to simple meals to old fashion clog your arteries good cooking.
I don't do the taco Tuesday or tasty Tuesday or burger night or pasta day. I cook what I want for meals even if it's a fried bologna sandwich and chips.
My boyfriend requested my smoked sausage and cabbage with a sweet potato. That's what is for dinner tonight.
I do need to get back to creating new meals with new flavors and reinventing left overs.
Do you plan meals or wing it?

I eat healthiest when I plan meals. I wish I could be more inventive with meals. I like the idea of curry but its too spicy for me. We're mostly vegetarians these days- I want to live longer so eating the American diet isn't going to cut it.

It's just incredible, the amount of trashy food in the average American diet. Processed everything...trashy snacks, and if a person starts reading ingredients and doing homework, they realize just what they are eating. I am far from perfect in my eating and cooking. But I do strive for decent food, and try hard to stay away from ultra-processed foods.

@MarieCoyle Agreed. The children suffer for it.

Evidently, some people don't care, but honestly some people could do better. I guess they just don't want to. Sad.

It was so good. My son polished off the remaining container of chili yesterday, and asked if I was going to make any more today...so I made chili as well, now we have plenty of soup to eat as well as some in the freezer. He loves chili, never seems to get tired of it.

I cleaned out mine yesterday, just to be sure I hadn't missed anything, and washed the shelves, etc. We're good. I put a Beef Barley soup on last night in the crockpot, it simmered low all night and it tastes incredible on such a cold day.

Since we are never sure when I'll be able to see, I make our meals day-by-day. Sometimes I'll tell Pretty what I'm thawing and she'll request something and sometimes she'll tell me she doesn't want anything I can make with whatever meats hit my fancy that morning so she cooks her own meals that day. (She likes rice and quinoa, neither of which I'll eat.)
I make sure there are meals I like in the freezer for days when I can't see so Pretty only has to microwave them for me.

I have meals I can pull together because I make it a priority to keep the needed ingredients here,. I cannot always get out to the store, because my son is ill. I use my leftovers, or freeze them for future meals. We love homemade soups, so we always have one kind ready to heat, and I freeze small containers to be grabbed and heated when the need arises, Freezers are a savior for me.

Combination of both. Hubby was talking about Reuben sandwiches, but I have a recipe for a Reuben casserole that is much healthier for me as it has less bread. So we bought the ingredients. Pricey to start with but it freezes well, and makes a big 9x13 pan. Now I just need to find the printed recipe, or I will go by memory, it will be fine.

I love to cook and to try new recipes. Tonight I’m making a common meal though meatloaf and pepper pizzas. Some leftovers as well for myself since I don’t eat meat. I said to my husband I wonder if there are recipes for ground Turkey in meatloaf instead beef. I said it’s half the price and he said he won’t eat it. I said fine my son will he doesn’t have to and can make himself something else. Meat is horribly expensive. The meat for the meatloaf alone cost me over $9.

We usually wing it for meals.
I like to make something for supper on Sundays that will serve as leftovers for lunches during the workweek.
By the end of the week we are having strange meals as we find ourselves finishing off the leftovers, but we like this as we will not waste food.
Tonight will be a baked black forest ham, mashed potatoes and squash or corn, I haven't decided which vegetable just yet.

My husband does all our cooking which suits me fine. Occasionally I cook and I also make biscuits/cookies and cake sometimes.

I have many "staples." But I am quite unplanned in the kitchen and am always creative when it comes to dishes and cooking. I hardly ever follow a recipe. If I do look at a recipe, it's just a suggestion or an idea. And when it comes to what I cook, it is usually decided a few hours before dinner time.
Tonight I will make clam chowder.
