I Like Sales but Now I Need to be Careful

On December 31, 2024, while browsing Facebook, came across a post that says Toby's Sports. The sale was enticing. I got pairs for me and my brother. After checking out, by the way, I used my Mastercard debit card to pay upfront. I wasn't afraid to order because Toby's Sports is a legit shop. In fact, I got my Adidas running shoes many years ago in one of their stores. After checking out, to continue, I noticed that the website URL it different when I started placing my order. It was suspicious, so I looked around Facebook, checked comments, majority says "do not be fooled". "It's a scam". Why did I not check the comments first before placing? I was too excited to check out and pay. I was thinking, they are legit. No they are not. I messaged my bank - but no available live person to talk to because it was December 31. The only way I can do that time was to submit a Support ticket, I got a reply from the bank on January 2, 2025. Seemed automated but there is a name of rep. He reminded me that there will be a fee that will be deducted by Mastercard. I don't mind about the fee. On January 10, I sent a follow up email asking for status. The same rep responded with "it will take up to 60-120 days." I said okay but at the back of my head, where's my order? To test if the seller is existing, I sent an email to their customer service asking about the status of my order. My order was processed on Jan 2 and to cut the story short, it is now in the Philippines from China. Today, I sent another follow up email to ask for the parcel. I was told to wait 3-6 business days as it is now in customs. After receiving the update, I got a notification from my bank that a refund was already processed and credited to my account.

I hope the seller was legit and you'll receive the order. But, you've cancelled payment now. What will you do if you receive the shoes? That's awfully fast for an order to arrive from China, isn't it? It takes several weeks for an order from China to arrive in the US.

I don't know how much of a security protocol they follow for bulk orders. I ordered 6 pairs. I ordered from Temu (China based) previously but it was a small order, I got it in less than 1 week. But these shoes are taking forever. It was placed on Dec 31, was processed Jan 2, 2025. If they are legit and the parcel gets here, I will refuse the shipment.

@jobelbojel Yeah, that's really fast for an order to arrive from China! (I'm going to ask you to place my orders from China from now on! ) I've never ordered from Temu, but I have ordered from China through eBay and it took six weeks for it to arrive here.

I did that with 32 Degrees a few months ago. They're totally legit. But a fake website looking exactly like theirs popped up in my url instead of theirs and I ordered from them and my bank caught it and stopped the transaction as suspicious.

Apart from being unsure about the legitimacy of the source, l would never buy shoes online.
