Hi, everyone. I’m sure we were expecting this, but that doesn’t make it any easier to hear. Linda OHio’s husband, Ken (“Mr. OHio”), passed away this morning. I just got off the phone with her. Needless to say, she’s hurting a lot. I told her about the “relief/guilt” feeling, which she said she’s already experienced (“relief” that he’s no longer suffering, then “guilt” for feeling that way). If you’ve been in those shoes, and so many of us have, you know the pain. His sister is there with her, to help her when she goes to the funeral home tomorrow to make the arrangements. She’s so grateful for everyone’s prayers and concerns. Please keep her in your prayers as she deals with this unimaginable pain. The photo is of the US flag at the VA hospital at half-staff to honor President Carter. Mr. OHio was a veteran himself, and it only seems fitting to present that picture in his memory.

None of us want our loved ones to suffer, for sure. I just wish it didn't have to be this way for her, and that they had some more quality time together. I am glad she has the sister with her, to help out. None of this is easy for her by any means, we are just never ready to lose someone we love. I am glad that she has his family to support her. She did everything she could do for him, we all know that. Thank you for keeping us informed. She is in my prayers for sure.

I told her there were a boatload of prayers and well-wishes expressed here, and she was so grateful. She said she’s “okay” (as much as one can be at a time like this) right now, and his sister being there helps.

I know she’ll appreciate the thoughts once she feels comfortable enough to come here and see them. She’s such a sweet person, and he was terrific, too. He offered me a whole bag of apples to take with me when I left!

She knows we’re with her in spirit, but having someone physically there to help her is so necessary.

We all hoped (remember when they discharged Fredo from hospice after six months?). I’m glad he isn’t suffering anymore, and I know she is, despite what she’s going through emotionally right now.

When this happens you’re just overwhelmed by emotions, and not a one of those emotions is good. I hurt for her as well.

Thank you for the update. I was waiting for this. She did everything she could for him but he simply wasn't going to get better. I'm so sad for her because she has said many times that her family disowned her so she only had her husband's relatives. At least she has a few people from his family who will try to help her.

I am sorry to hear the news....I wish I knew more to say than that. I always told her that through the whole situation, that I wish I knew more to say than I was sorry, But sometimes there are no other words that can be said...

Oh damn, I'm so sorry to hear this, I know what kind of pain she is going through & it's not nothing easy to live with, that's a hard time in life to go through & try to push through, give her my condolences, I was sure hoping he would get better & come home.

I was, too…hoping, at the very least, the VA would be able to get him home health care. Alas, it wasn’t to be.

@FourWalls Well you know how things have been with the help she's been trying to get him just wasn't there no matter what she did & that's just more or less letting him die.
