I’ve been looking at accommodation in Edinburgh for three nights in March when we hope to visit our daughter. The place we stayed in before Christmas is available, and cheaper than previously by about £300!!
So I played about with dates thinking ahead to another trip we plan on taking later in the year, and I discovered that while our March dates cost about £500 for 3 nights, at other times of the year the apartment costs £2300 for ONE NIGHT!
It’s a nice block of apartments, but it’s not THAT nice - toilet seat was not firmly secured to the toilet.
Again the owner will just cite “market forces” and throw his hands up in the air to indicate that he has no choice. But he does have a choice. He could choose not to try to screw every last penny out of people and he wouldn’t be put in jail for being ungreedy, and he wouldn’t starve.
Edinburgh is particularly notorious for this, the rich and famous being willing to pay silly money and pushing ordinary people to one side.

I would never pay that kind of money to stay in an away from home accomodation. I would go to a suburban area and take a train into the city or something.

@snowy22315 Even if I could afford it I just wouldn’t pay. It’s obscene. And it really wasn’t at all fancy as I told them in my review.
