I'm still learning about what happened in the middle of the night.
A very loud beeping noise woke me out of a sound sleep. My first thought was that I forgot to turn off my oven. However, when I checked, the oven and stove were fine. I didn't even use the oven yesterday. So where was the alarm coming from? I checked my smoke alarms. It wasn't them. I listened and noticed it was louder outside my door. I poked my head out to see other people standing in the hallway and flashing lights going off to the tune of the alarm.
Yep, the fire alarms were going off on all floors. I found that one out a little while ago. It wasn't only the first floor. I also saw police officers looking for the source.
I just talked to my friend down the hall and she said there was heavy smoke in the building, but no fire. Okay, that was a good thing. My friend told me the fire department was here, not only the police. Makes sense, we had smoke. I could smell it in the halls.
The alarms went off for a full hour. No going back to sleep until they turned them off. My friend told me the fire department needed a code to get them off. Which is why it took an hour before silence reigned in the building and I could go back to bed.
What did I do during that hour? Put my DVDs back on the bookshelves. I had them almost put away by the time the alarms went off. Then I turned out the lights and went back to bed to sleep another four plus hours, according to my Fitbit.
I got up at 6:36 this morning. I thought for certain I would wake up to daylight, but it was still dark.
My living room is almost done. I have the chairs in place and it looks good. I only need to get the knickknacks back in place and hang my pictures where they belong. I should have done that yesterday before I got the computer desk on this wall, but I didn't notice they needed moving until this morning.
That's my morning. How's your day going? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me. Our last storm in December.

It is good to know the alarms work and that police and fire will come for an alarm. Even better to know that there was no actual fire.

That really is crazy. I hope it wasn't a prank someone pulled to get people to leave their homes. Down here that happened. Kids, vandels really, would set off the building alarms to see who was home and who wasn't. Failed though because they didn't think the fire department would come, they never do.

I was away for a few days. Have you moved or just been reorganising?

Gee, smoke in your building, that must have been scary. Did you ever find out the source of the smoke?

So nice to hear there was no fire to contend with. Still scary. Why the smoke?

That’s not the kind of excitement one wants. I’m glad that everything is okay.

I'm glad there wasn't a fire but I am curious where the smoke came from... At least you didn't have to be evacuated and you found something to do while waiting for the fire alarm to be turned off.
