In India in most States marriages are arranged through match making While making a match family is also taken into consideration apart from financial stability, whether the prospective is an alchoholic, whether he is into women, etc. With all these precautions there are many cases where marriages fail. Mine was what I might call 'propsed' in that my then prospective wanted to meet me as he used to see me taking the same bus that he did. And it worked after a meeting was arranged at a mutua friend's place . What about you?

In my country, most of us do not go through match making, we do have professional match makers and apps to help those who need to have a little push.

Most here are friends or family members who help do that 'push' as you call it.

@allknowing Having the push is not sufficient or it does not help. I boil everything down to fate.

Did you date for awhile before getting married or did he literally just see those times on the bus route and decide he was going to marry you?

@allknowing oh okay so definitely nothing like an arranged marriage. You got to know each other first and it was a wonderful decision for you to marry since you have been together all these years.

Both love marriages and arranged marriages have their pros and cons. I had a love marriage while most of my cousins had arranged marriages.

I have two "younger" (Younger than me.) male friends in India... One of them keeps making "sisters" out of the young women his mom finds for him. It makes his mom mad. The other young man told his mom he doesn't want to get married and that makes his mom mad.

The present generation thinks differently and their parents have to slowly accpet the fact that some either do not want to get married or find their own partners.

@DaddyEvil In our family many have preferred to stay unmarried. - specially the third generation.

@allknowing I agree... I laugh and tease my friends but don't know what they'll do about finding someone to love and live with for the rest of their lives. I just hope they'll be happy, whatever they choose.

Suppose you are not compatible with the person chosen for you - and you find that out on your wedding night ...
