My But Things Have Changed

Howdy from Athens! Alabama, that is…don’t think I’m in Greece. Heck, my food doesn’t even see grease anymore. My, my, but things have changed in my world of traveling. You see the item on the left? That used to be my overnight bag. I was able to travel that lightly. This trip? It’s my dope bag. All my medications (mostly, I hasten to add, ones I MIGHT need [such as my inhalers] instead of ones I DO need). Oh, well, them’s the breaks of getting older. At least I can still travel without assistance or wheelchairs or any of those things. When my big luggage (the one you put all your clothes in) becomes my “dope bag,” then I might have to reconsider. On the right you see me with the Buc-ee’s beaver. We have a new Buc-ee’s in Kentucky, on Interstate 65 in the booming metropolis of Smith’s Grove (hey, it’s bigger than Gobbler’s Knob, Punxsutawney Phil’s home! ). Of course I had to stop, fill up, and check it out. And, since it’s the weekend, the mascot was there, so I snapped a picture of us together. Where am I going? Heck if I know, but I know where I’m NOT going. I had hoped to go to Mississippi and Louisiana to see a couple of myLotters and my dear friends who live around Alexandria. Well, they are on their way to Nashville for a musician friend’s funeral. And, as I believe God always works things out, I checked the SPC (Storms Prediction Center) website from the National Weather Service today, and there’s a severe weather possibility in Texas on Thursday and Friday. So I’m glad I’m NOT going that way. It’s not like I won’t ever see Mississippi again. (I still have to visit the Tallahatchee Bridge, where ol’ Billy Joe McAlester jumped. ) I hope y’all have a good evening, and of course I’ll keep checking in as the trip progresses!
