Day 9 – Work 2 Chronicles 8:1 It happened at the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the house of JEHOVAH and his house, 2 that the cities which Hiram had given to Solomon, Solomon built them; and he settled the children of Israel there. 3 Solomon went to Hamath Zobah and seized it. 4 He also built Tadmor in the wilderness, and the storage cities which he built in Hamath. 5 He built Upper Beth Horon and Lower Beth Horon, fortified cities with walls, gates, and bars, 6 also Baalath and the storage cities that Solomon had, and the chariot cities and the cities of the cavalry, and everything Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, in Lebanon, and in the land of his dominion. 7 The people left of the Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, who were not of Israel— 8 that is, their descendants left in the land after them, whom the children of Israel did not destroy—from these Solomon raised forced labor, as it is to this day. 9 However, Solomon did not make the children of Israel servants for his work. They were men of war, captains of his officers, captains of his chariots, and his cavalry. 10 Others were chiefs of the officials of King Solomon: two hundred and fifty, who ruled over the people. 11 Solomon brought the daughter of Pharaoh up from the City of David to the house he had built for her, for he said, “My wife will not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places to which the ark of JEHOVAH has come are holy.” 12 Then Solomon offered burnt offerings to JEHOVAH on the altar of JEHOVAH which he had built before the vestibule, 13 according to the daily rate, offering according to the commandment of Moses, for the Sabbaths, the New Moons, and the three appointed yearly feasts—the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles. 14 According to the order of David his father, he appointed the divisions of the priests for their service, the Levites for their duties (to praise and serve before the priests) as the duty of each day required, and the gatekeepers by their divisions at each gate; for so David the man of God had commanded. 15 They did not depart from the command of the king to the priests and Levites concerning any matter or concerning the treasuries. 16 Now the work of Solomon was well-ordered from the day of the foundation of the house of JEHOVAH until it was finished. Thus, he completed the house of JEHOVAH. 17 Then Solomon went to Ezion Geber and Elath on the seacoast, in the land of Edom. 18 Hiram sent him ships by the hand of his servants, and servants who knew the sea. They went with the servants of Solomon to Ophir and acquired four hundred and fifty talents of gold from there and brought it to King Solomon. God’s names: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Yeshuwa – Jesus God’s character: Holy Sovereign What have you accomplished in your lifetime? Can you look at your life and see a well-ordered life? In twenty years, half the reign of King Solomon, he built the temple for JEHOVAH and his house. He also built a house for his wife, the daughter of Pharaoh. Then he acquired other cities and built them up, settled his people there and caused the foreigners to become slaves for the people of Israel. He didn’t do it without help. Hiram, king of Tyre helped him with the labor force. Solomon couldn’t have done anything without JEHOVAH’S help to see the temple completed, his house and the house for his wife. These weren’t small endeavors. They took twenty years to accomplish. As children of Yeshuwa, you know the saying, ‘I’m under construction. God isn’t done with me yet.’ We are the work of JEHOVAH, a work in progress. When you look at your life and what you are doing for Yeshuwa, what does it look like? Have you been faithful to complete the projects He gave you? Are you working on a project now? Solomon didn’t rest from his labor. He always had a project to work on. When one task finished, another took its place. With the temple finished, his and his wife’s houses finished, he built up the cities Hiram gave him. Until Yeshuwa calls you home to your rest, you will always have work to do for Him. He will also supply you with everything you need to complete the work. Yeshuwa always finishes what He started in you. Therefore, do your work with joy in the labor. Knowing the reward He has for you upon completion. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Then you will enter the rest prepared for you from the foundation of the world. Matthew 25:23 “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter the joy of your lord.’ Hebrews 4:1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2 For, indeed, the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3 For we who believed enter that rest, as He has said: “So I swore in My wrath, ‘They will not enter My rest,’” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. Your work isn’t complete until you enter your rest when Yeshuwa calls you home. Solomon continued to work, and you must continue to work. Yeshuwa isn’t finished with you yet. Let’s pray: Father, You began Your work in me. Help me complete Your work to the best of my ability. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
