It is Lunar New Year eve today. We are going for reunion dinner tonight with my parents. I had did my reunion dinner with my in-laws on Sunday. There is a reduction of 3 people from the reunion gathering this year as my nephew was down with Covid-19 (Yes, this annoying bug still exist).
Tomorrow I will be going to visit my in-law and my parents. As a working adult and a married one, I will be presenting red packets to my parents and my nephew. I skipped on my younger sister as they did not practice on that tradition.
Chinese New year red packet is getting very creative. They have 3D version and also they have an ATM version. The red packet is like an ATM machine with the card attached (I purchased it. Maybe I will add a photo in my next post if I remember to take a photo). When the person receiving the red packet pull the card out, the cash in the red packet will be coming out as if cash had been dispensed from the machine. Kind of cute but due to the cost of the red packet ($3 per red packet), this will be the first and the last time I am making a purchase on such red packet.

We also celebrate Lunar New Year or as we referred to as Chinese New Year here. Although we're Filipino's we celebrate it because there are lots of Chinese here, and we are acquainted with them. Just like here in our school, half of our students here are Chinese. Celebrating it is how we show our respect and love to them.

Hope you have a great time celebrating it with your loved ones. The red packet idea sounds so cool.
Yes, nowadays everything is pricey but once a year I feel it is OK to splurge especially on people you love. It is great for kids go get some money to spend on what they desire. Who doesn't like it and why only kids?
I would like to see the video of a pic of the red packet so do share with us.
I'm more interested in the special dishes you are cooking to celebrate this happy day??
Happy New Year

This Lunar new year is coinciding with the Chinese New Year. Red packets sounds creative and cute, a newer way of giving cash on special occasions. Here, earlier they used to give it in money envelope, now a days most people would do digital transactions.
Have a good reunion with your family.

Oh yes, all of us are well except for my poor nephew who could have caught the virus from school. His best friend also caught the virus as well.
