Another Leaving

Last May I found a new family doctor. My previous one had closed up shop and moved to another occupation. Finding another doctor was a 2 month job. Today I received an email telling me that the 'new' doctor has to close his practice. It sounded very sincere, and sad as he has an ailing family member. It still leaves me without a family doctor, again. At least he has found 2 doctors that will take over his practice. I am sad that another is leaving and I have to start all over again building a rapport with a new doctor.

Being a doctor isn't easy. I am sure some have their fill after awhile

I am sure it is difficult, and there is alot of overhead costs, between staff and office rental, but he always seemed so positive and the atmosphere in the office was a very professional and upbeat tone. This is personal, someone in his family is dying, and based on the fact that he is originally from the UK, leads me to believe that he will possibly be heading back there unless it is his wife or one of his children. It is worrisome to have to start over with another doctor. You have to give all of your personal information to yet another party. And the last party has entrusted our records with a third party, if we want to purchase them-which I will not. it does make me wonder how many sets of eyes have read or will read my personal medical information. That could easily lead to ID theft the information in their hands.

Finding a doctor that is good and someone who can relate and good rapport with is a really a tough job. I hope those two doctors that can take over his patients are all good and kind as well

I believed that I had such a great doctor, and based on the kind words in the email that he expressed such thankfulness for caring for us, his patients, it is not his fault that he has to care for a family member, family comes first.

@Juliaacv true. But it is not easy to get along with doctors with such short amount of time

Thank you. The doctor sounded so heart broken in the email, he obviously is very close to the ailing family member as he mentioned it numerous times. He thanked all of his patients for allowing him to care for them. He also included 2 other doctors, of course in order to apply I have to go to a clinic, which I will have to mask up for. I hope that he will be alright, I will have to give him a small token of my appreciation when I have my next, and last appointment the end of March.

This can be quite a task. We think ourselves incredibly lucky to have found a wonderful practice now that we've moved to the city.

It is a huge task, and these doctors are so over worked and hard to get an appointment with once they take you on to their practice. On a personal basis, I felt terribly sorry for the doctor. Someone very close to him is dying.

Sorry to learn that your current doctor had to leave his practice due to an ailing family member.

We are facing that here too. Since my husband is on Medicare now, we don't *have* to drive into Baton Rouge for doctor, as our medical plan with our previous employers will now be secondary insurance. So we are on the hunt for a new Primary, eye doctor and dentist right now. I think I have found a primary for us, he comes with a lot of good recommendations.

I have a new psychologist. Mine retired. I've been seeing her for 17 years. I procrastinated seeing the new one but I have an appointment with her finally to meet her for the first time in a couple of weeks.

You were fortunate to have someone for that many years.
