The Other Side of the Camera

One of my favorite webcams is a live cam in Destin, Florida. It points toward the west, over US 98, providing some spectacular sunsets. It also looks over Norriego Point, a beach at the end of Holiday Isle. It has four indentations, and I’m assuming they’re man-made, because they’re too perfect (in their shape, spaced apart, things like that).
Despite all of that, I wanted to see things from “the other side of the camera,” and today I got my chance. I stopped at Harbor Walk Village and walked to the bridge that takes US 98 over East Bay and the Choctawatchee Bay (the map makes it appear that the bridge is the “dividing line” between the two). There I took pictures of Norriego Point, looking east instead of west.
Additionally, I walked all around the Harbor Walk. It’s a hodgepodge of stores (all grossly overpriced, of course), restaurants, a couple of hotels (including Margaritaville…and yes, I took a picture of it for NJ Chic! ), and LOTS of boats available for anything from sightseeing to fishing. There are even some of those tiki floats.
I didn’t buy anything, but it certainly paid me with the walk (about two miles) and the views.
And I finally got to see that beautiful view from the other side.
Here’s that live cam…which isn’t always live, but if it is, you’ll see the bridge I was on.

Definitely enjoying myself. I’ve made all of 70 miles in two days, so that tells you the fun I’m having.

I love the coast. St. Augustine is neat, lots of history there, too--but I bet you've been there and done that. I always love doing the historical sites, too.

@FourWalls Yes! We are overdue a trip there. We used to go a couple times a year and then I talked him into a couple of big trips and Florida kinda of went out the window. My husband doesn't like sand either, so not on his list of priority destinations. I did get him to the beach there twice one year in 2000 I think. But we used to always hang out in Destin/Pensacola area. Have you been to the Fort in Pensacola? It's pretty neat and the visitor's center or educational building right there (I forget what they called it) is fantastic for adults and kids!

There are so many great live cams in Florida that I just have to come here and see them for myself!

Lovely views are worth the walk or effort that you put in
