Don’t Hate Me Because It’s Beautiful

Do you remember that Pantene Shampoo commercial back in the 80s that featured Kelly LeBrock? Where she’d look at the camera and say, “Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful”? You may have forgotten it, and her, but you probably remember the line. Well, don’t hate me because THIS is beautiful. “This” is St. Andrews State Park, just outside of Panama City, Florida. My third state park on this trip (current totals: state parks 3, Sonny’s 2, Chuy’s 2 ) was everything you could possibly want out of a trip to Florida…except it wasn’t all that warm. Right on the Gulf of Mexico, the wind put the slightest bit of a nip in the air. It wasn’t bad, but I kept my sweatshirt on. Along the way, I saw gorgeous white sand dunes and that beautiful, beautiful water that makes this area known as “the Emerald Coast” and such a popular Spring Break attraction. In five weeks this will probably be good and warm…and overrun with drunk college kids. So I’ll take the slightly cool air in exchange for having such a lovely place relatively unoccupied.
