Well, they are all sick

Half the staff for our room is sick. Most of the other people who are qualified to fill in for them are sick, but that is okay, two of our kids are sick.
I took pity and am riding the bus.
It is February, which used to always seem like the longest month of the year.
Here is a list of the illnesses: respiratory virus, covid, influenza type A, stomach bug, strep . . . that about sums up life at school.
Now it is time to go to work.

It is more because we are all inside, close together, and do not wash our hands enough.

@GardenGerty it is possible, some have lower immune systems. and some have good ones and sometimes those who have good immune systems do not tend to show any symptoms at all but they might be a carriers of the virus

I had two days off last week. One for an appointment for Bob and then had a fever so took the next day off. I had Monday off for an appointment. Maybe I am not getting too close to the germs.

School needs to close until those illnesses are gone. I hope you don't catch anything. Good luck!

One school in our co-op did close for an extra day last week. I have not heard if it helped or not.

I'm sorry the land disputes were difficult. I hope everything is done with them now.

I think alot of people get sick because people don't stay home when they may be contagious.

They keep sending out reminders to parents about keeping sick kids home. In our classroom we work really closely with our kids and so get extra exposed. Our custodian says she can tell people (kids) do not wash their hands enough. The do not have to refill the paper towel and soap dispensers and some of the trash cans look hardly used. Not good.

When people have to be inside and too close it is easy for them to get sick.

I get my flu shots and covid shots, and hope to avoid the worst of any of this. Often when I get sick it turns out to be a "rinovirus", just the common cold.

I was off with a low fever last week, but I went to bed, rested, and drank plenty of water. I did not get really sick. I am a lucky one, I guess.

This seems to be a bad year for it. I get my flu shot every fall, and I feel like that consistency really helps.

They probably cannot afford the time off, and most of the people In my group cannot afford it, but are having to take it off. I still have a handful of days left. Saving them for Bob's eye surgery. But if I had a fever or stomach bug symptoms I would not come in to work.

I’m sorry, sickness in schools spreads so fast. Quite a few of our schools here had a deep cleaning like they did during COVID, to cut down on illness if possible. Our hospitals are requiring visitors and staff to wear masks, and are limiting visitors. So much sickness.

Before we knew about Covid, one of our nearby schools proactively closed and had their HVAC duct work cleaned. We should have those kinds of things done as routine maintenance, we might stay healthier.

I hope you manage to avoid all the sicknesses. I guess there is no way you can dodge it all.

It's the same here in our school. Many children are falling sick. It's mostly the seasonal flu and the sudden change in weather.
