I'll Be Darned If It Didn't Happen Again!

This is incredible. Twice in two weeks we've been food-shamed by servers in restaurants. This time our young male server named Will, who we've had several many times before, said, "I don't mean to shame anybody or anything, but are you all really going to eat all that?" When I replied, "Yes, we are," he said "How do you eat that much?" I had an 8 oz sirloin steak. That's all I ate. My steak comes with two sides, so I ordered two tiny cups of chili as my two sides and gave them to my husband. My husband had a 12 oz ribeye steak and it came with two sides so he ordered two tiny cups of green beans. Hubby ate all of his steak, both chilis, and one of the green beans. So Will the server was referring to my husband, who isn't huge, and it just was rude to comment on how little or how much we eat, don't you think?

That is rude and something you can take into consideration when tipping! I bet he would get the message then!

And it just happened to us two weeks at at Buffalo Wild Wings when we bought two burgers and got two free and ate all four of them (without buns). That female server made a big scene about it.

@kareng The tipping, exactly! I thought kindness and politeness were overdone in the US since you got that tipping thing.

Very inappropriate comment I have never had a server comment on what I did or didn't eat.That is unless I mention I didn't like something and they bring me something else or something like that.

I'd find such comments to be more rude if they came from friends or family members, than strangers. Weird as servers are supposed to be very polite, especially since you got the tipping culture over there. I hope their comments didn't affect you. Besides, it seems like neither of you had eaten much, according to your description. I feel like I could eat for the both of you, but maybe I'm just very hungry right now.
