Why was I Spared?

The plane was descending to the airport tarmac in San Francisco. I saw another plane close to ours, taking off. We were too close together. I saw the wing tip out of the window, it looked like it would hit the wingtip of our plane with disastrous results for both planes. I watched fascinated by the other plane floating. It did not seem to fly, it only floated on a cloud. The captain's voice said, "We are aware of the aircraft on the left. We took a slightly evasive action and expect to land safely in a minute." When I think of the tragedies of the last few weeks with planes unexpectedly crashing instead of landing with happy people waiting for friends and relatives who never arrived, I wonder why our plane was spared and they were lost.

I think it was the luck of the draw.

That could be. Another few inches closer could have meant disaster for both planes.

Wow, you were really blessed. A lot is happening with planes.

Yes, it is very weird that all this stuff is happening now. I agree, we were blessed and we went on with our lives.

Only the man upstairs can answer that one.

Yes, but I think about those poor people who lost in the airplane lottery. Why are some spared and others not?

@akalinus Ask God. I don't know the answer to that, nor any other human being.

@kareng I must have been spared for a reason and I hope I can find out what and fulfill it.

Just be thankful that you were. That you're here now. That you had the chance they never did or could have.

@akalinus I'm glad you were, though. You had a pilot who knew what they were doing.

Supposedly they much safer than cars, that being said. I never fly if I have to. You have all kinds of things that can go wrong with planes. Birds, weather, terrorists, random jerk who did not get to sit where they want or get their screwdriver in a timely fashion. Airline delays and cancels, nope, rather sit by myself in my car and drive cross country than fly. Glad you safe.

@akalinus I do not blame you, I try to stay out of the public eye in general these days. Its not like the old days. There is something going on and I do not trust it for one minute. Its so sad people chose money and power over a quality way of living for everyone.

@crossbones27 Something is happening. I don't think life will ever be the same again. It is hard to know what is happening but things are changing and probably not for the good.

We were safe, this time. I have not flown in years but thought of that experience when all these plane accidents started.

I want to go back to New York with my best friend and fly back later but I am having second thoughts about flying.

@sjvg1976 Because those young ice skaters on the plane had something great to offer the world. I don't do anything special .

I think it is natural sometimes to wonder why some disaster happened but we were spared.

I did not think about it at the time. It was this last bunch of air disasters that made me remember that day and wonder why some people are targeted and others arrive safely. The plane at DC was full of young, talented skaters. Why did they perish when other ordinary people are fine.

@akalinus There are no answers to questions like these. No rhyme or reason for any of it.

Oh, my. That would have been very concerning. I am very glad nothing bad happened!! And yes, it makes a person wonder why some people are spared and others are not. The number of freak accidents is very concerning as well. I am surely glad you are ok and still here on earth!
