Fries with gravy

Do you call these fries or chips in your country? Do you like them as is or do you like a side with them? I used to do sauce as a side, but now I'm beginning to like gravy. Never figured out what the gravy contains, but it sure does taste good! This picture is from a hurried mid morning snack I needed yesterday when I got hungry at work - probably not healthy!

@TheHorse That's all A1 sauce is good for. If I ever have to put sauce on a steak, it's not worth eating. lol

I usually eat them plain, but I'd have anything as long as it isn't sweet. I never tried dipping fries into milkshake like some do, and I don't plan to try any time soon. Fries with gravy look delish!

Sometime when you have fries, mix up equal parts ketchup and mayo for a dip and try it. It's really good!

@DaddyEvil It's how we often make cocktail sauce over here. Maybe not equal parts, but it's a mix of ketchup and mayo. And yes, it's so good!

I call them chips, although those ones look a bit thin and undercooked. Sometimes I like mine plain, sometimes I'll have sauce/dip. That depends on my mood. I also like vinegar on chips. My husband says he has had strange looks when in a chip shop asking for just salt, not vinegar. I find that hard to believe as that's quite common. Some places start adding salt before they've finished asking you if you want it. The first few times I asked for only vinegar, it was like some kind of weird revelation that there are people who actually don't want salt! I like to make my own chips and will sometimes put sweet chilli sauce with them. I also like to experiment with spices and other things when I cook them e.g. chilli, lemon, lime.

@pitstop salt and vinegar is pretty much standard here in the UK. There's even a chip shop/restaurant called Salt and Vinegar.

I haven't tried vinegar, although it does sound like it will make a good combo.

I like lemon juice with some fried fish or calamari. Not much with fries.

Those are fries. Sometimes I buy frozen fries with spices on them. I don't eat fries very often but when I do eat some, I want mayo mixed with ketchup to dip the fries in. YUM!

In America we call them fries. I like fires as a side dish with the main food.

We call these fries here. 99% of the time I like to have them with ketchup. But I also like horseradish sauce with them and occasionally will have something else. But most of the time it's ketchup.
