There is Moonlight and Moss in the Trees

Howdy from Bowling Green. My fifth and final Chuy’s of the trip. And what a trip it’s been!!!
Leaving Georgia yesterday and heading into Alabama, I was close to Montgomery (the capital of Alabama), so I decided to take a musical detour…down the Seven Bridges Road.
You probably know that Eagles song. What you might not know is that it was inspired by a real road. Steve Young, the man who wrote the song, used to hang out with friends and drive along Woodley Road (the real name of the road, also officially County Road 39) at night.
So of course if I’m that close, I’m going to drive it, too!!!
I didn’t get the moonlight, since I was driving in the afternoon, but there was plenty of “moss in the trees” (bottom picture). The top photo is a warning that one of the seven bridges (in the background) is narrow.
Even in daylight, it’s easy to see how such a lovely drive inspired such a memorable song.
Here’s the Eagles’ version:

No, I don't know the song but even I can see that would be a pretty area to drive through, moonlight or not.

@DaddyEvil — cloudy and cold, but uneventful.

@FourWalls Uneventful is the best kind of drive when you're on your way home.

@TheHorse — you’ll hear the duplications…I mean, the similarities. Ian Matthews recorded his version in 1973.

To be fair, they swiped the arrangement from Ian Matthews.

My favorite of the bridges are the covered bridges. There are some that still take vehicular traffic, but most are just for pedestrians now.

@JudyEv — I went on a trip to see various covered bridges in Indiana a few years ago. Yes, they are very attractive!

It was gorgeous, even with the only thing on the trees being the Spanish moss (which, despite the name, is NOT Spanish, nor is it “moss”). Bet it’s amazing in summer and autumn!

Yes I know the place and song.
Was that you yelling " hey Angie! " As you passed my way?

I've always loved that song.
You've had such a nice trip, and I am glad that you did. I am sure your local Chuy's missed you terribly--did they have to close up shop while you were gone?
I imagine those kitties that you feed missed you, too. When you get home, I am sure it will feel nice to be there as well. As the saying says, there is no place like home!

Guinnevere was waiting for me when I got home. She rubbed up against me all lovey dovey until I went in the house and got a can of food…then it was “feed me, turkey.”
I hope they’re still open…I brought a full lunch card home!

It’s always nice to be greeted when we arrive home. It’s good that you arrived before bad weather hits!
