Free Food Is Good Food

I don't know about you, but I love free food and will happily accept it if there is an opportunity to do so. Takeout and eating out cost a lot and every debit card charge adds up fast. In a blink, a $20 meal turns into $500 plus a year easily!
I had the opportunity to eat for free today. There was vegan chow mein and beef chow mein available for the employees regardless of whether they were part-timers, full-timers, freelancers like me, the boss.
I went for a bowl of beef chow mein and a can of Sprite soda for my free dinner. I am really relieved that free food like this was available to the employees because I was expecting to pay upwards $20 easily for dinner by grabbing a meal from one of the restaurants in the vicinity. I love it when I save some money.
Also, I wanted to mention that the food was fantastic. The beef was very tender, the sauce was savory, and the texture of the noodles complemented the fresh vegetables very well. It was a delicious free meal. I couldn't have asked for any better. I am very grateful.
I hope I get another free meal next time I work this week to save money again. Food is just so expensive right now.

Depends who offers it This company where you do freelancing must be conscious of quality
May you get many offers. We do not have any of those offers here where I have access to.
There is an event called Kumbh Mela here in India where crores of devotees attend the event and free food is provided to all of them. Reports have it the food is excellent

@kareng This one is a freelance job so it will last as long as the catering businesses stay in business and need freelancers to step in when their full-time employees call off. As for me, I've been working for the past five years, so I will see.

Of course. I won't eat food picked off the floor or something. Haha

No, I work as a freelance waitress for local catering businesses. I step in as a replacement when someone calls in sick. The food was just available for the employees. It's not always the same. The noodles were good.

Free is always good but getting a meal without paying during these hard times is special. You are right, it is too expensive to eat out, even fast-food prices are too high. I rarely go out to eat anymore.

Yes, that's right. Even fast food is super expensive these days. I can't eat out without paying at least $10 out of pocket because the prices are so high.

Definitely have to agree, free is the best kind of food.
Glad you enjoyed, making me wish I had a Sprite right now.

Glad you got to eat a delicious meal for free!
It’s nice when employers provide food for their staff. You’d expect restaurants to do this all the time, food is readily available after all, but that’s not a given.

Yes, I loved it because it came in a little bowl with a plastic lid so I knew it was going to be fresh and hygienic. I always get surprised when I have the opportunity to eat for free on the job because like you said, it's not readily available and often tossed out in front of the hungry employees.
