I have to say my nasal passages may never recover..the trauma of it.
You know how a smell can stick with you?
Well I went to look at an 'apartment'...utter dump two days ago.
I haven't recovered yet.
It literally stunk!!
It was not clean, in fact, filthy, the vents were brown!!
Bathtub and stove utter filth..JC!!
I walked out and never looked back.
These places are truly criminal with the price they charge and the conditions they are allowed to operate in.
Yuk.
Anyway, I am still looking needless to say.
(This photo is random..it was not this bad, but bad enough..as in what's in the carpet?)

You mean cities and towns? Housing Code needs to know about it though and actually do their job..so yeah..they allow it everywhere here. Complete and utter shiteholes for poverty stricken people who have not much of a choice.
Luckily, I still have a bit of a choice.

I hope you can find something. Sad when a place is in such poor condition, it's obvious the owners don't try to do anything about it.

@kaylachan Yes you understand..it is hard for some to fathom that this is the way people have to live.

Oh ugh. Yep - photos of these places are often deceiving - they can make a dump look decent. And often it's way smaller when seeing it in person. They shouldn't be allowed to rent out places like that - right, it's criminal to charge anyone to live in those conditions.

You would be here Judy. They are ruthless. Unless your paying upwards of $3000 per month, you are pretty screwed.

I can feel you. I can't tolerate dirt and filth around. It just sticks to me and keeps upsetting. I wonder how they could put that for rent in such condition.

I have a feeling that a violent crime was committed in that apartment at least once. You did well walking out and never going back.

@RebeccasFarm I'm so sorry. I winced just thinking about it. In my case, it wasn't on my face because it would show. It was my body and a lot of hair pulling. I have been suffering from hair loss for years now. Body didn't heal properly either. I have chronic pain and other physical and mental health issues due to narcissistic abuse. Physical abuse falls into that category because narcissists can be physically abusive behind closed doors.

Many like this here, they do nothing to combat it Julia. You can't even get them to answer the phone at the City. Disgrace, not just this city all around the state.

Wow sounds horrible OT. You have had no luck with apartments and your neighbors who live there. What a bummer! And looking for a place to live is like having a toothache. It's no fun.

@RebeccasFarm So sorry OT. Like the song by The Animals, "(You) We Gotta Get Out of This Place."
Even with some beautiful nature there, sometimes we have no control over our situation. Hope you find better luck and place to stay in the near future.

@RebeccasFarm I seen some bad places in Commerce City when my friend left her husband. It was not even safe for her kids to play outside.

I feel so bad that you're on the hunt for a new apartment. Gosh that certainly sounds beyond disgusting and that they even bring potential tenants to see it.

@RebeccasFarm I certainly don't understand how they let those offending tenants get away with everything they do. I'm sure if they got evicted there would be someone who would rent
