Coupon on one premium item with 20% off. When a store staff gave me a cupon, without looking, i thanked sincerely, thinking it was maybe 10% off my bill or something good but this.
And i adore conditions of this coupon; you can't get a discount if items are already on sale.
What a good feeling. Yes, I'm sarcastic.
Don't customers deserve something better for 20 years of shopping?

I laughed when you mentioned that you are sarcastic. Thank you for the laugh. Customers do deserve better for 20 years of shopping, but stores don't care unless you are some VIP customer or something along those lines.

@grenery8 Yes, the business world is quite elitist. You have to be important to them for them to respect you. At least the clerk helped you out which was nice of them. I just buy things online because I don't have the energy to physically shop. On occasion, I will visit antique and thrift stores to buy gifts for my family.

i was today on self-checkout and it was messing with me. declined my card twice and not sure why.

Supermarkets that have a lot of money and a huge customer base deserve a better deal than a coupon for 20 percent off in my opinion.

You would think so. Kohl's used to give me a $10 off coupon on each anniversary I was a customer. I thought that was not bad. Then with the economy going so bad they reduced it to $5. Why bother. Not worth the gas to drive to the store.
Another thing with Kohl's and other stores is they give you a percentage off coupon, but like you said not if it's on sale, or they exclude so many items from the coupon it's like what good brand is left to use it on.
I agree.

Your frustration is totally understandable. 20 years of loyalty to a place, and you get 20% discount only on a full priced premium item. That is pretty much underwhelming, given all those terms and conditions. I do believe long term customers should get something meaningful -something like a good percentage off from the total bill with no or less restrictions. It looks they wanted to look generous while they were actually not going to give much. Hope they will step up the rewards at some point. Or perhaps you need to talk with store manager. A friendly push may work. Take care!
