It's a leftovers morning. Snow is leftover from yesterday though its melting off the walnut tree's limbs right now so maybe the roads will clear up by this afternoon.
I made a very basic quick bread yesterday. Mashed carrots and home applesauce for its fruit plus dried cranberries. A chunk of that with cream cheese and a dab of smoked salmon was breakfast.
Hubby banged heads via the internet with daughter again. He presented me with a box this morning. Happy hear me scream Valentine's Day!!!! Inside the box was a gorgeous purple glass heart jar. Etched flowers and heart on its lid. Inside the jar lay a velvety purple pouch. A locket on a silver chain nestled in that pouch. And how in the world????? Daughter sketched her face on paper and put the sketch inside the locket on one side and hubby's face on the other side. So very real yet sketched and so tiny. The entire gift really makes me teary.
The final hoorah for this morning: my house is warm. Just wow. I did get the heat pump to work yesterday. Total bliss. I am not wrapped in a blanket this morning.
Happy Valentine's Day to you and your loved ones.

Thanks @DaddyEvil. The super nifty surprise arrived last night: the heat pump sent some heat upstairs. Oh wow. No more totally frigid hallway or bathroom. Loved the surprise.

@sallypup You're very welcome.
We had a nice surprise several weeks ago. We have an air duct under the house that has fallen down but we can't get under the house to reach it. I figured out I could build a tongue and groove panel and slip that into the exterior opening under the house so the warm air our heat pump was putting out came up into the house instead of being lost to the outside of the house. The house is much warmer and our heating bill was much lower this month.
OACAC workers told us they could come in the spring and do repair work on our house for free.

What a lovely and special gift that must be! I am so glad for you, that you were celebrated so well, Lenore!
We are to get ice later tonight...then tomorrow is our only warm up--mid 30's for a few hours, then back to the deep freeze with even more ice on the way. Everyone I know here prefers snow and hates ice.
I am glad you are warm at last!

We keep the house a little on the cool side but use heated throws. Your Valentine surprise sounds absolutely beautiful.

That sounds very thoughtful indeed. I talked briefly with my son yesterday.Neither of us had much to say.
