We first did these things when we were at UWI in Barbados, which at the time, was far from a supermarket. We had to make things last.
TOOTHPASTE
After you do the squeeze and roll, and the tube is curled up, pull it flat, and cut off the bottom. Insert your brush at the top working your way down... You will be surprised at how long one tube lasts
SOAP
Cut a bar in half. Use one half until it is small then put it in a damp dish. Use the other until it is small than squeeze the two pieces together and use that.
SHAMPOO - BODY WASH
Pour a little into an empty container and fill with water. It will suds fast, rinse quick and last long.

@lilacskies there were no shops. You would have to walk a long distance to the road, catch a bus, go down the hill, then at the bottom, turn south, ride for a time...get off, into a shop.

These tips are practical and smart to make things last. It’s nice to know how a bit of creativity can stretch some of our daily essentials a little further. I will add a tip to your list.
LOTION
When a bottle looks empty, cut open near the bottom. Most often there will be some lotion left at the bottom. Store the cut part in a bag which is resealable or transfer the contents into a small jar to every last drop. In this way, we would use it up to the last drop.
Hope that helps. Thanks for sharing the tips. Enjoy your time!
