Mylot friends, things are slowly turning around for me at work, while I'm still Goodwill for at least another week at this moment. I've spoken to Erin at HR for twenty minutes on Tuesday to talk about my accommodations I've been wanting for almost four months. After she talked to my new GM Anita about it at length, she talked to me and asked how things have been at work since I last spoken to her two months ago or so with Randy. Finally, and at least, I'm getting accommodating for a two-week trial, starting this Monday. One day a week, I'll be doing regular quick sorting, even without the pressure of trying to hit more than 3 bins. I've told her that's not possible with my orthoarthritc neck and back pain.
Another day, it'll be 50/50. This is what Randy and Erin talked to me about in November last year. I'll be sorting for half of the day like the morning, and then do stuff upstairs. It could be a range of things: running the wares cart or pulling the wares off the shelves. We used to have participants to do the wares carts, but we don't have any now. They probably have quit before the holiday season. I could be pulling clothes off the racks, though we have two people doing it (except on Thursdays). There's also the possibility I could be a cashier, though I've told Erin I was never taught to do it, even though Randy said he would train me last fall, but it never happened. I know it could be stressful at times, but I need to at least try it for an hour and shadow a fellow cashier.
And another day, I would be upstairs all day, doing a variety of things On 3/3/25, Erin would stop by to see how it's going, and if any adjustments need to be made. Although temporarily, and until I can quit Goodwill this spring, anything new I would learn would be added to my resume for my ongoing winter job search.
Anita said she would teach how to tag shoes and sneakers, bags, and other accessories to go on the sales floor. She also mentioned doing the books, though I've done it for a week in November with my former AM Jenn. She also mentioned wares carts on Tuesday, and also today at work. I'm glad she's more on board and supportive to me than my former boss was for 1.5 years, and possibly have her as a reference, though I don't know her last name. I'll be happy to share with you what I've done next week.
As for the Chuck E Cheese interview, it was short and sweet. The manager and GM weren't there. But I interviewed with somebody else. He took notes, asked questions, and I asked about the food prep/ Pizza Maker position. Though it pays less, I should hear back by Sunday night at the latest. I have an interview lined up with RSVP Party Outlet on Tuesday afternoon for a Sales/Cashier/Stock position.
Now, I just need SSA to clear up the issue with my father's survivor benefits next week. Fingers crossed. I'll do some make up commenting this weekend. See you then.
