More Free Food

United States

I am freelancing today again and I was provided with grilled chicken and a can of Pepsi for lunch today. I'm on break right now. We usually get a 15 minute break if the shift is short, but fast-paced. Today, we are getting 30 minutes because it's slow, but a long shift. I don't think I'm going to get to visit the thrift store after work like I originally planned, but oh well. I really liked the grilled chicken today. It was perfectly grilled, tender, and aromatic. There was no "meat" smell to it that chicken can have if it's not properly grilled/cooked well. There was no vegan option for my vegan colleagues. They had to get takeout using their own money. I am having an okay day. I don't celebrate Valentine's Day, but many people in my life do so I just observe them. It's an interesting holiday. Romance is in the air. Not for me, of course. Even if there was, I wouldn't notice. I'm aromantic. More on this later! Maybe!

Glad you got free food, and glad you’re feeling well enough to work! I’m single too, so Valentine’s Day to me is a day to go get 75% off chocolate!

Thank you! I enjoyed it very much! I need the money to pay my bills. Lol! That's awesome. I don't eat chocolate much, but I do observe other people having a good holiday!

For you to notice romance you need to be open to it, and welcome it into your life. Romance in and of itself is subjective. Me flushing my husband's peg tube, and not having to fight him off, is ronmace to me.

@lilacskies I hear ya. We have all been there. Long ago I decided to replace my income. I never once said, "I want to work until I can't."

An aromatic aromantic. How interesting. Is there a “Bah humbug” for Valentine’s Day? There should be. Great to hear you’ve managed to go to work, and eat and drink. That’s very important

@lilacskies If you get more shifts and get fed each time, at least you’ll be able to reduce your food bill. As you work in hospitality, hopefully you get tips too.

Thank you! My boss? Yes, I heard from him the very next day. He told me to come in for my Friday shift and that he was resting on his off day and had his phone off. That was a relief.
