Reading material for a night or two

I spent a few hours helping my sister-in-law tidy up a room. I brought home a few things which I’ll look through then forward them on to the charity shop nearby. Among the items I brought home were these Cordon Bleu magazines. I can’t imagine I’ll keep any of them but they will be interesting to leaf through. Nowadays, it’s easier to go online for recipes or cooking tips. I kept a few recipes books last time we moved but most went in the donation box.

There must be someone who collects them out there.

@JudyEv it really did. and sites are nicer, faster but i feel they ask for too much of our personal information. for one train or bus ticket there, they need my adress and phone number. i mean...

I think you once said there are no charity shops there. The ones here have shelves and shelves full of books. Such a waste of paper really.

Cool! If you see something good, let us all know! (Note to you: we Americans don’t consider anything made with Vegemite “good.” )

@JudyEv — fair deal: you don’t push Vegemite on me, I won’t push fried okra on you.

That is a major sticking point between our friendship - Vegemite. Actually, I only ever had it on bread or toast. I can't even recall any recipes that use it.

I dearly love cookbooks but I don’t want any more of them. I did get rid of some I didn’t really use when I moved last time. Like you said, there are tons of online recipes as well that are so easily available. I do have my old favorites!

I went through my cookbooks and if there was only 1 or 2 recipes that I used, I wrote them out. Then I donated the books.

@JudyEv I have shared a lot of mine with family who seemed glad to have them. Cookbooks are no good to anyone if they aren't used, so I was glad to share them.

Yes, I believe the Cordon Bleu school is a famous cooking school. Maybe if you find some recipes you want to try, you could take a pic of them.

I'll be going through them and trying to pick up some hints. Cordon Bleu was a very famous school in its time.

The last time we moved, Pretty donated all the recipe books I had except for one that I'd handwritten... I still use the recipes in that book once in a while.

I have a recipe book with hand-written recipes in it too. I use a lot of the recipes in it. I was careful only to put in what I knew I would use, even if only occasionally.
