Well, he forgives me

Today Bruno had a vet appointment. I had been misleading him the last day or two by having the cat carrier out and putting treats in it. This morning when he got in for the treats I zipped it shut.
He got his ears cleaned, flea treatment, nails clipped, oh yes, weighed. When we got home and I let him out of the carrier he wrapped himself around my ankles several times and then sat in my lap on the heated throw. I had expected him to choose Bob.
Taking care of pets can be pricey, but it is worth it to keep him in good health. He has lost a couple of pounds this last year, but that is actually a good thing. It will help prevent heart disease.

I'm glad he forgave you for tricking him like that. But I am surprised he did... A lot of cats don't forgive being tricked easily.
Good morning, It's nice to see you. I'm also glad myLot is back up and running again. I've been trying to gain access since this morning at 3 am and failing. I finally gave up and went to sleep. I hope the site stays up for a while now.

I wonder if all the weather and fires, etc. are affecting myLot. Bruno needs to learn to ride in the car, as he will go on any long vacation we take in the future. I would say he probably has abandonment issues since he spent two weeks at my sister's house without her, when she went to the hospital. People fed him, etc. but it was not "his" person. I am now "his" person, so he will forgive me.

@GardenGerty I'm not sure. myLot is based in Kansas City, Missouri and they are getting more nasty weather than we are here. I don't know if that matters or not, though.
True, he was probably scared and those feeding him weren't reassuring him enough when your sister was in the hospital.

I’m glad he’s okay. It’s time to take Sadie to get her teeth cleaned. When I adopted her they weren’t in great shape, so it became mandatory for me to get those cleaned regularly. All of my other pets had great teeth, but then I adopted my other dogs really young, and I kept them in good shape from the beginning. Sadie is different in a lot of ways from my past pets. Until two nights ago, I never begged a dog to leave me alone. Sadie was the first.

Oh my. Clingy Sadie. Jane has a rescue dog that has maybe four teeth. She will not eat canned food, wants dry food, so Jane softens it up with broth.

Wrapped himself around your ankles? Are you sure he wasn't trying to trip you?

Could have been, I guess. I just took it as a friendly greeting, though.

Goldie (who was primarily my mom’s baby) had a way of sitting down and gluing herself to the pavement when she realized she was at the vet. Ooh, was she obstinate. Freckles (my baby, see profile pic) didn’t like to go, either, so she’d sit on my lap, shaking.
After Goldie went to Rainbow Bridge my mom said she thought she was doing something wrong with her checkbook, then she realized she wasn’t writing out checks to the vet. It was worth every penny.

I have not always had carriers for my kitties. I am glad I do for Bruno. He got to stay in it in the van and in the vet's until she opened it up to go take him to be weighed. The appointment was early so there was not a lot of traffic. We could hear a big dog barking in the back that was probably being boarded.

Bruno is a domestic short hair. He is a nice gray color with one white spot on his neck. His eyes are green. He last lived with my sister but she passed away. My sister had paid his adoption fee for her gentleman friend to have him, but he would get too dizzy scraping the litter tray and so gave him to my sister. Before that he had been in a shelter for about two years.

@lilacskies My husband liked him, he really likes all animals. My nieces both said "we do not want him to go back to a shelter, but we cannot take him." I am a softy, so he came home with us.

@GardenGerty Bruno sounds adorable. I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. You are so kind to adopt Bruno on behalf of your sister's gentleman friend.

I want him to get used to the carrier so if we take a long trip he can go too.

@GardenGerty Yes, and you don't want him to think of the carrier as only going to the vet!!

Nico was awful at the vet and had to be sedated. Boy was he happy to get home though! We both were for that matter

Oh, I can imagine. Is Nico very big? Bruno is down to 16 pounds, which is still big for a cat.

Since you let him out it was kind of attitude of gratitude wrapping himself around your ankes.
Peppie does that whenever he is hungry

He is a pretty clingy cat, likes laps, and always wants to know where we are.

That's so good that he doesn't bear grudges. Our pets can make us feel really guilty sometimes.
