Late this afternoon, we received the news that my daughter passed the college entrance exam at one of the state university. She is one of the 3,150 students who passed out of almost 48,000 exam takers. We didn't expect this because seeing those exam takers last December, we talked that we shouldn't expect anything with this. But this is such a blessing from God.

It took me back to the day I was awaiting results and my number had not appeared in the papers. The whole family was disturbed but later we learnt that those who had passed second class the entire block was missing. And here I am now with a passed certificate - years ago though

Oh, very nice! Congratulations to your daughter! Is this one of the "free" colleges sponsored by the Philippine government?

@rakski Because my friend @DevMrSam Eleazar started college this year. Part of his grade is getting people to donate money to the school system. No matter how good his grades are, if he doesn't get donations, he can still fail the classes. His family are very poor. He and his best friend failed the first semester so his friend's dad, a military officer, went to the school to ask how they could fail when they had almost perfect grades. Sam said the teacher looked at the friend's dad and then changed the grades for the semester without waiting to find out anything else from the dad. I suspect the teachers aren't supposed to base grades on how much the families can donate to the schools and didn't want the military to find out they're doing it that way. But, of course, I don't know that for sure. I just don't want that to happen to your daughter.

@DaddyEvil oh wow, this is the first time I heard of that. State Universities do not need donations from students to get a good grade. I think that can be reported. The State Univesity that we applied is a good and old state U

Congratulations!!! College Entrance Exam is one of my most fearful moments, but I got in but not in a state university. I am schedule to take the exam in PLM but before the exam I passed in AMA so I enrolled the next day, almost all of my friends are there and classmates since kindergarten. So I told my mom I sill just study there.

That’s incredible news! Congratulations to your daughter on getting such an amazing achievement! You must feel proud! And you definitely should. Passing any highly competitive exam is no small feat. She must have worked very hard for days and months. To be the 1 among 3150 students is not easy thing at all . To be focussed on the exam with all possible distractions today. It is never easy for today’s children. Hope there is a big celebration at home with friends and family. Wishing her all the great success as embarks a new journey in college. Enjoy the time!
