We made it to North Carolina

We left the house this morning at 5am. It was to dark to read so I came to myLot. I’m so thankful for strong coffee, books and myLot today for sure! What should have been a 10 hour drive took a lot longer. We didn’t make it to our hotel until 8:20pm. We hit snow on the way and that set us back a lot more than the 6 or so stops we had to make for diaper changes etc. While at two of the stops I was able to grab geocaches. Finding those gave me two online souvenirs for these states I have never been in before which was Virginia and North Carolina. I had stuff under my feet while my husband was driving. I wasn’t able to move my legs around freely. My knee feels extremely sore to bend or touch. Laying in bed now it’s throbbing sharply. I did squats two days ago and my knee was sore not long after so maybe this is part of that. My husband drove the whole way. He also got more sleep than I did last night which I knew he would need. The stress of driving a long way is exhausting. He fell asleep almost as soon as we got to the hotel and my little one who is a night owl and had a nap on the drive shows no sign of tiredness. Photo is of the yummy mocha mint iced coffee I got from Wawa. A friend recommended it to me and it was so delicious!

I'm glad you guys made it to the hotel safely. I was starting to worry about you. I'm sorry your knee is hurting. Do you have any pain meds with you that you can take? I hope your baby will fall asleep soon so you can get some rest.

@Daddyevil people were noisy early in the room next to us to it woke up us early. My little one may have kept them up last night though the rooms were quiet then I didn’t know anyone was around. The knee feels better after sleeping. I didn’t even bring Advil or anything I never take anything.

@shaggin I always ask if we can get a room away from other people when we travel. The neighbors are always noisy in the morning. I hate waking up to noises other people are making. Other people always want to leave earlier than we do but we can't sleep through their noise. I'm glad you're feeling better this morning. I always take pain meds with us when we leave the house.

@DaddyEvil it was about 6 am the people by us had their tv going and were being loud talking. Maybe some people don’t think they should be quiet that early but I do. Hopefully I can get my daughter to be quieter tonight and go to bed earlier since she hasn’t had a nap.

I am glad you arrived safely in the bad weather you had to deal with. It's hard to travel with little people, takes a lot of entertaining, etc. I hope you rest tonight.

@MarieCoyle she was such a great girl on that 15 hour drive. I have her one new Barbie, she played with toys, read books, sang songs etc. Only twice did she ask if we were almost there. She and I are out on adventures a lot so she’s used to being in the car two hours or so but 15 hours was a lot to expect. She did so good I couldn’t have gotten luckier.

Our kids always slept well when we travelled but then they would be wide awake when we arrived. I'm sorry about your knee.

I've never been to those states either. Have been to most of the northwestern states but none on that side of the US. Stiff legs can be so hurtful. Too bad you don't have Epson salts for a nice bath. I hope the littleone gets tired soon. I love a good latte coffee and we have a good one we like here.

@Kandae11 I mostly just read a book or was at myLot. I didn’t look at the surroundings too much until we got to North Carolina. If we could have stopped along the way that would have been nicer for looking out the window for places to explore.

That is quite an adventure! A 10-hour drive stretching to over 15 hours definitely is exhausting, especially with snow and all those stops. I do drive 8 hour and 9 hours journey every 2 months and I definitely feel it tough at times. You got some geocaches and that is some fun ways to make the journey memorable! Definitely some rest should help your body and knew to recover and be all fine. I too take a day after a long drive to rest my body and mind.Mocha mint iced coffee from Wawa sounds nice – I have note it and would try at the next possible opportunity! Take care!
