Next Big Project

Can you imagine hunkering down in your house while winds of 180 miles an hour rage outside. Then what you have been dreading happens - your roof lifts off and sails away leaving you exposed to the wind and rain! That could easily be my story if l don't get cracking fixing my roof before the Atlantic hurricane season starts in June. I need to have it reinforced with hurricane straps as well. Is there a big project you have planned before summer rolls around? Something that you must do or don't really have to do. Or maybe you plan to travel and visit family members you haven't seen for some time. What's the next big thing on your calendar.? Pixabay image.

I can't imagine that happening here but it's always a possibility when tornados blow through. They've always missed us but you never can tell. We need to get our car fixed again by the time it gets warm outside. I'd like to go to the lake this summer. Edit to add: OACAC is working on adding insulation to the walls and ceiling of our rental house and doing other work on it to help it stay cool in summer and warm in winter. That will drop our energy bills a lot!

@Kandae11 I did a temporary fix to help with heating and cooling by putting a board in front of the crawlway under the house. We have a piece of the duct that disconnected under the house so we were losing heat to the outside. With the board in place, the heat still get sent back into the house.

That should be lovely, spending time at the lake. My sister who lives in Canada does that with her hubby every summer. Do you get much warning before a tornado ? We can get two days to a week notice before a hurricane hits.

@snowy22315 Same here - unless l won the lottery. Then as they say " if you don't have a ticket, you don't have a chance". And l don't buy lottery tickets so l guess l have no chance.

I guess the next event on our calendar is my husband's 80th birthday in May. I hope we'll celebrate at our granddaughter's house (they just bought a beautiful home) and have the kids and grands there. I think he'll enjoy that better than having a big party here. Where we live, when you have a wedding, a baby shower, or any celebration like that, you have to invite pretty much everyone you know. And most of them are relatives that we're not close to. I hope you can get your roof fixed soon.

It's hard to plan anything for winds that strong. Do you have hurricane windows? My daugher and son in law had them put in their home in Florida, Very expensive but they really wanted to do that. My son in law is a contractor/electrician, so he put them in. My next big thing? I wish I could wave that magic wand I can't find and make my son well...since I cannot, I will continue on trying to care for him as best I can. The next happy event will be a visit here from my Florida family, who hope to spend a week in July with us. That will be so, so nice!

Yikes I hope you get your roof fixed! I can’t think of anything at home I want to do other then cleaning my stepsons room out. He’s only home a few weeks out of the year and he hadn’t really ever cleaned his room fully. I’ve along way to go but I’ve already filled many garbage bags with garage.

I have some inside projects going on but nothing urgent for outside in the upcoming months. Last summer I had my house power washed and the driveway resealed. Hope you get your roof done before hurricane season rolls around. We had hurricane force winds last weekend and lots of trees fell on cars and roofs.. Sometimes wind is worse than anything else

I have many plans. My younger son is coming from Denmark. So I am getting a wooden bed done along with a cotton stuffed mattress. I shall also get a AC for the bedroom upstairs as it will very hot in April in my city.
