Left with no present

My mom’s birthday is tomorrow and I have no present for her. Went to three stores today and didn’t find anything to get her. There was a nice cup and saucer with poppies on them but it was very cheap. Didn’t feel right getting her that when the present she got me for my birthday was very expensive. I’ve looked online and couldn’t find anything, at least nothing I liked that wasn’t very expensive. It’s gonna suck going to see her empty handed. Maybe I will get her something sweet from the bakery.

Sometimes the price doesn't matter so much. Your mom would be happy no matter what you give her for birthday

The day you were conceived in her womb and then you were born you became God's gift and present to your mother. No expensive gift can ever surpass you as a gift to her. You can go spend the day with her and take photos together.

Now that is the idea get her something sweet that she really enjoys eating. Another thought the cup and saucer with poppies sound nice how about that along with the pastries.

That is frustrating. However, do not stress too much. It is more important that your mom sees you and that will be happier for her. A gift need not be expensive. If you liked the cup and saucer, pair them with tea or coffee which is of her choice and which she enjoys. If she has some bakery items she loves, get them. Write a heartfelt note or a letter, that should make her happy. Or even better a small album of memories with her. At end of the day, it’s the thought and effort that counts most. She will appreciate whatever do. Afterall she is mother. Enjoy the day! And my borthday wsihes for your mother!

I will definitely go see her. Hopefully hubby doesn’t get held up at work and we’ll be able to take her out to dinner.

I hope I can get her some nice flowers if there is a store by her house somewhere. Can’t go with flowers on the bus as that will make me anxious.

@lovebuglena What does she like? In terms of flowers and other things? What is she interested in? Did she ever tell you? I hope she likes the flowers.

Do you really think she would worry about the cost if it was something pretty and useful like the cup and saucer. It sounds lovely.

Probably not. I didn’t get the cup and saucer but I found something else. She liked it.

Happy birthday to your mom! Flowers are always nice . . . maybe a card and that bakery sweet. If you want more, you can put a note in the card that you'll take her out somewhere (restaurant, or movie, or museum, or garden) - on a later date.

You can give her a gift voucher that some shops have and you can get it online - Happy B'day to your Mom

Can you give here home-made vouchers for manicure/pedicur (by you) or an offer to take her shopping/bake her favourite cake, something like that?

@lovebuglena A subscription to a magazine? Something you can do online? But she's your Mum so I can't imagine it will phase her too much when you explain.

It shouldn't matter how much it all costs. It truly is the though that counts, at least it does here. Is your mother in fairly good health? Could you give her a present of time, like maybe a day in the city, an overnight ''girls' trip'' somewhere you would enjoy, a spa day, something like that? Gifts of time are such good presents.

I may get her lotto scratch-offs and we’re gonna take her out but I wanted to get her something else. Like an actual gift.
