Doctors Are Human too.

Have you ever been treated by a doctor who appears ill or has a physical impediment ? And did it make you feel less confident about his or her ability to help you get better?
A lady l know who visited a Govt operated clinic told me that when she got there she saw a doctor on crutches. She wasn't sure what was his problem but she said her first thought was " l hope he isn't the one l get to see".
Some people think of doctors as healthy human beings who are not supposed to get ill. The simple fact is that doctors are flesh and blood like any of us. During the covid pandemic people got more scared when they heard of doctors dying from the virus.
Yes they wore the best protective gear while treating the sick, but most of them had families to go home to - they could have contracted the virus anywhere.
The message here is that there is no super human . Regardless of status in life - rich poor, celebrity, non celebrity - we are all human and we all must die at some point. In the meantime we try our best to take care of ourselves and remain in reasonably good health.
What are your thoughts?

I think we all are guilty when it comes to expecting doctors to be in perfect health

@Kandae11 I wonder why they cannot treat themselves.

@allknowing Some doctors might need specialists in areas they were not trained for.

Doctors are just as human as anyone else. They may have more medical knowledge than the rest of us, but that doesn't make them immune from getting sick nor getting hurt. I don't know why someone would have issue with a doctor with crutches . . . my dentist has a bad knee and limps severely these days, but I don't question her ability to check out my teeth.

@Kandae11 Ohhhh, I have heard of this happening to celebrities. If you know the main kid actress of the horror movie "The Exorcist", she had a hard life in public because people did think she was evil (that was just her acting role, not her real persona!).

People think strangely sometimes. I recall the actress of a very popular soap opera whose role on the show was to upset people's lives , said she was almost attacked physically by a 'fan' of the show... That fan couldn't allow herself to believe that the actress was playing the roll given to her - and playing it quite well.

Yes why anyone would choose to be a doctor and be around sick people to catch their sickness, I don't know.

Doctors are after all human beings. My cardiologist is diabetic but that doesn't mean I should stop getting checked by him.

@Kandae11 Rather they get sick often as they have to treat infectious diseases too.

I don’t recall ever having a doctor that was ill. I’d see them as long as they weren’t contagious though.

That's a very good perspective, Kandase. We're certainly all suseptible to illnesses and accidents.

I have never been treated by a doctor who appears ill. Yes, doctors are human beings. They will get sick; they may have family problems. Some even commit crimes.

The problem with doctors in our country is their professionalism. They would set an appointment and then arrive 4 or 5 hours late. I hope they should consider not wasting their client’s time.
