Did I talk about how I almost got run over by a little old lady in a parking lot the other day?

I was walking from my truck to Safeway. I spied a man to my left and was about to say "'Morning." In an instant, a car was in front of me, going about five miles per hour. I jumped back. The driver parked in the "Disabled" space directly in front of the store. I don't think she ever saw me. I looked at the man and said only "wow." I forget now what he said back. But he acknowledged what had happened. She was an "older" woman, perhaps in her 80s. I watched her get out of her car. She used a cane or a walker to get into Safeway. I assume her peripheral vision is compromised. If she had hit me in the side, I wonder what would have happened. I am not as young as I once was. Would I have suffered leg damage? Or a broken hip? I guess I am glad it is only conjecture.

I'm glad you are okay. I don't say this often, but some old people can be real mean. This old woman probably didn't do it on purpose or notice you, but I know some old people who do things on purpose and sorry is not in their dictionary. Ever.

What do you think makes them mean? I enjoy my (remaining) elders.

@lilacskies Maybe they are bitter about things they failed to accomplish in their lives.

@TheHorse That is a good question. They could just be psychopaths, sociopaths, or narcissists. Or they became like this over time. Take your pick. I have no idea.

You know what Jan and Dean said….”Nobody’s meaner than the little old lady from Pasadena.” I’ve had people walk behind me when I’m 2/3 of the way in the parking spot (I back in because it’s easier to pull out than back out), but I haven’t deliberately gone after anyone that way.

I thought only people with "entitlement issues" backed into parking spaces.

You certainly were lucky and didn't have to know first hand what injury you would have incurred. I certainly don't think that "older" woman should be driving if she's using both a cane and a walker. I'm sure her reflexes aren't very good.

I would assume they are not. I hope she would not have kept going and squished me had she knocked me down.

You were really lucky. There comes a point when people need to stop driving but it's such an inconvenience when that happens. Not worth a life though.

I peeked at her license plate, but did not "phone her in."

You were very lucky that she didn't hit you!! It's scary when you see people like this driving. If she was on a 4 lane highway, she probably wouldn't see the car right next to her either!

Glad she didn't hit you. But since when can a day drive? Reread your title

Was that the little old lady from Pasedina? I think her driving days need to stop.
