Another Number Changes

Seven years ago I was so traumatized when my husband Martin passed in August I completely forgot how we celebrated my birthday that year and that year I became 60. Never expecting to come back to the US, to Florida, and leaving my life in Latvia behind. I was lucky my friend Lesley from the 6th grade so a very long friendship had a place for me. Now sadly she too is gone.
On Saturday March 1 my number will change to eight years ago and I will be 68. Just being a number I have chosen to forever more be Sweet 16, my favorite songs can still get my feet wanting to dance, and among my favorite songs Glory Days by Bruce Springsteen brings me back to high school.
I pray and thank the Lord each day I have my health, no major diseases, a brain that is able to function well. I can get by on my own, and I thank Him for watching over me along the rest of the life journey He has planned for me.
I invite you all to my Sweet Sixteen on Saturday. Please know it has to be a potluck so bring what you can, and let's rock the house down.

@shaggin thank you. At least I have the sun to enjoy, Back when I lived in NYC and also in Latvia on March 1 it often snowed.

It is such a nice time of the year to enjoy a birthday, Happy Early Birthday to you. 
I love your positive attitude, and in our 60's we do have to be thankful for the good health that we enjoy.
If I were coming to your Sweet Sixteen party, I would bring a nice crab bread dip and some bread.

@RasmaSandra When I think back to the birthdays that I have celebrated, I preferred the quiet ones best of all. It is a good time to think back over my years, and I like doing that quietly, my family always wants to make a big deal of the day, but it is not necessary.

I am so sorry about your husband and your friend. It's so incredible to be fairly healthy at your age. I'm very happy for you. Enjoy your 68th birthday! Will you be getting any presents? Will you have your own little party besides on here?

68 is not an age for you to worry about being old. 68 is young and you will stay that way for yet other may be 20 years.
