Scammed & Scarred

It's hard to believe everything online. Two months ago, I lost $345.40 to an online scam for an educational course. I wish I had never attended their free webinar—now I regret losing that money. Worst of all, my family keeps reminding me of it whenever I talk about saving money. No matter how good you are, one simple mistake can make you a laughingstock for many. These experiences are part of life lessons, yet they leave a lasting impression on your subconscious, making you hesitant to take any online courses again.
Have you ever faced such a situation? How did you overcome it?

No, I've never had that happen. I'm sorry it happened to you. All we can do about it try not to let anything similar happen again.

You are right, that's why I double check every time now. Still it hurts when people around you keep reminding it to you at every step you take to rectify your mistake.

Did you not read reviews before venturing into it?

I did there was a mix of opinions. Only after I paid them I found out that it was a different person who approached me with the name of that institute. When questioned the institute they were aware of this as that person used to work for them and yet they haven't caught him. They were still working on the complaint even after many people got scammed and were complaining relentlessly. Even now it is unresolved and people are getting scammed. All these institutes only think of their reputations, but not their customers. This is the reality of today's education

@manasamanu This is ideal for a Crime Petral episode. Insiders must be involved too.

@allknowing May be or maybe not! We cannot even point a finger at them while all the other fingers are pointing at us.

Yes its sometimes really embarrassing to admit that we got scammed by an unknown person. The usually careful person also slips sometimes, can't avoid mistakes. But can be rectified.

Well I did too, for the matter of fact, but somehow I fell for their trap. Now even just attending for free I think 10 times.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Losing money like that is definitely disheartening, especially when it is a mistake that feels so avoidable in hindsight. I can understand what you go through when your family brings it up. Hope you don’t take it too much as everyone makes mistakes, I have lost around $400 myself and I regret about it whenever the topic comes up. Online can be very deceptive. You are now hesitant to try things online, but hope that does not hold you back from learning and growing. I remind myself that mistakes are just part of process and focusing on what I learn from them. I hope you still can take online courses if you are careful and do more research. I hope the next step is a little smoother for you and you find a way to trust yourself again. Take care!
