It's been a very busy month of February for me and my Mama.
February 2nd - She had to undergo cystoscopy because doctors found multiple lumps in her urinary bladder. Her cancer was found to be the aggressive type.
February 19th - Ma underwent radical cystectomy. Doctors removed her urinary bladder, uterus and ovaries. She spent 7 days in the hospital and was discharged just yesterday.
I'm so proud of my mom for being so strong and independent. She's 81 years old. She does most things by herself and lives by herself.
For now, I'm the only one who accompanies her to the doctors and does the legwork and paperwork and stayed with her day and night at the hospital. I thought I was going to pass out from exhaustion! It's a good thing that someone came over last weekend to stay with her at the hospital. I slept the entire Saturday and got plenty of rest last Sunday.
Yesterday, I settled all the hospital bills and doctor's fees and had a driver bring her home. We've arranged with someone to be her temporary caregiver while she's recovering.
I'm glad she survived the surgery. There are more checkups to follow. In the meantime, I shall help my daughter again with her college applications and continue keeping house and doing other stuff.
It's good to be busy.

I'm so glad too, given that she's 81 years old already.

Thank you so much for including her in your prayers, AmbiePam! :) I called her this morning, and she said she's on her way out to buy a flank for her urostomy bag.

When sickness visits a loved one everything goes topsy turvy But you have handled it well.

Thank you for that vote of confidence. It was tough and I was exhausted for days. I don't even know how I survived. I'm just glad that the surgery has been done, and I hope that there won't be any more of it.

Looks like you had an intense and emotional month. I am glad you mother made it through surgery and is back home. You must be proud of her strength and independence at age 81. I am equally impressed with here resilience to handle everything. Good to know you were there for her every step of the way from the hospital visits, with the paperwork and bills. It must have been exhausting for you, it’s wonderful you managed to get some rest over weekend. The temporary caregiver arrangement is a smart move giving you some time to look at your responsibilities. I admire you have been juggling with many things at once. Its inspiring how find meaning in staying busy , while there were challenges. I hope things go smoothly from here and your mother continues to recover well. Take care!
