Making A Living Sure Is Hard

Despite my chest pain, I went to my freelancing job today and worked for eight hours. 7 and a half of those hours were spent on my feet, leaning forward because of my chest pain making it difficult for me to stand straight. Other employees noticed but fortunately no one pointed it out. Making a living sure is hard. I don't need my colleagues' criticism on top of it. I have bills to pay so I gritted my teeth and dealt with the pain. I have another shift on Wednesday and will hopefully be much better then. I went straight to bed after I came back from work, but ended up tossing and turning 20 minutes before I woke up again and decided to distract myself enough to make myself tired and fall asleep. Is it working? Not really. I am in a bit of a crabby mood tonight.

Yes, I made a post about it yesterday. I received new antibiotics for my pleurisy. My parents drove me to the hospital to see my primary doctor.

@RebeccasFarm Haha Don't worry about it. I treat this site like my personal diary so I post at least three times a day like if I were to write in my diary. I'm so sorry. Please keep us updated. Do you have any relatives who can help you? Thank you. They are better than the last ones so that's a start.

It's tough, but you are doing what you have to and not making excuses for it. Not everyone can say that. I admire a person who grins and bears it despite their challenges. Onward and upward.

Thank you. I have another shift tomorrow and possibly another one this weekend. I could use the money to pay my bills. Let's see how it goes.

You’ve done amazingly well to go from bed-ridden to work such a long shift. I think you should ease into it and do maybe 4 hours max until you’re better, but if you desperately need the money, I guess needs must.

Yes, I had no choice. I have to stay on top of my bills. Once I fall behind, that's when the late fees snowball. I just accept whatever job I am offered no matter how long the hours may be. It was supposed to be six hours yesterday, but it lasted a full eight due to being busy. Better than staying home and fretting about how I'm going to pay my bills.

@Tampa_girl7 I'm a freelance waitress for local catering companies. I step in when a full-timer takes a day off and there is no full-timer replacement. I work a few times a week, sometimes a whole week goes by without work. It's very sporadic, but it pays the bills.

Sorry to hear about your chest pain. It must have made your working tough today. Its impressive you were able to push things despite the discomfort. I understand how hard it is to work when you are not at your best. It’s great you colleagues were understanding, though I believe it was not easy to hide your pain while trying to keep up. The financial pressure of the bills is tough, And I am going through the same. The last thing you need is extra stress from others. Hopefully, Wednesday’s shift will be better and by that time things would be better for you health wise. You really need some rest after work, even if you cannot get more. It’s frustrating the body is not cooperating the way you want to and that can definitely affect your mood. A good night sleep or a little relaxation will help you feel better tomorrow. Take care!

Thank you. I had no choice but to work yesterday due to having some bills coming up next week. I have to pay my bills on time to avoid the costly late fees that add up fast. I appreciated that my usually mean colleagues didn't point out my pain and make a big deal out of it because I just wanted to work my shift and go home. I hope tomorrow is even better for me and if I get some more work this weekend, I am doing much better. I could use the money for my upcoming bills. Thank you. I tried to sleep, but my insomnia is making it quite difficult. You too.

Not sure if work helps with physical health but it seems to help with the mental one, as you're distracted and making the money you need. It's also a good thing nobody commented on the fact you'd often lean forward. Maybe they could have only said words of concern but I get it's still a kind of attention you'd rather avoid. Sorry you couldn't sleep, I hope resting in bed is still helping you recover.

Yes, the money is going towards bills so I'm glad I have some to pay my next month's bills. I have a lot of bills next week so yesterday's shift and tomorrow's shift will help a lot. My colleagues don't really care about me and are quite territorial since they are full-time and I'm a freelancer, but overall, no one commented about my health condition which was a relief. I was stressed enough. That's okay. Insomnia is an ongoing battle like my other health problems. It is what it is.
