How many of you remember drive in theaters ? We went all of the time when I was a child and in my teens. Little by little they started shutting down. I have heard that a few still exist. I think that I was in my early 20’s the last time that I went to one. I always wanted my son to get to experience one. Sometimes they would even show double and triple features and don’t forget the cartoon before the movie.
If you ever got to go do you miss them ? Did you enjoy them ?

I think that more than a kiss was stolen.
Oddly I never had a date at a drive in theater. I had a blind date at a regular theater. It was a double date. I was 16. I ended up moving seats over by my friend who was with us. My blind date was a real creep.

@Tampa_girl7 I am glad you were able to escape. Yes, I was being...a gentleman...in my question.

So is it always crowded? How are they doing business wise?

There was one in Cinderalla City here but closed..
There is still one in Commerce City here called 88 Drive In.
I haven't been to that one but years ago did go to the Cinderalla City one.
And of course all the driveins as a kid in St Louis MO.

They were already starting to close them down by the time that I was able to go out to them.
My parents didn't take us when we were younger, they preferred the indoor shows.
I might have gone to the drive in 3 or 4 times at the most, so I do not really miss it.

I was born and raised in NYC so drive-ins did not mean much for me but when I spent summers in the Catskill Mountains some parents brought us kids to drive in and I loved that.

My parents went to drive in theaters for dates back in the day. I've never been to one. I've never even seen one around. They are coming back in style though.

In my childhood, they built one just a couple blocks from our house . . . we could faintly hear a movie if we listened closely
. We didn't go a lot, but it was pretty exciting to go watch a movie at the drive-in . . . my mom would pack a car picnic for us. It went out of business eventually - maybe it was in my teens. Yah, that'd be cool to be able to experience that again.

I remember going to one with my family when I was young. I remember a playground that my sister and I played on before the movie started.

I remember them well and we used to go a lot. A lot of courting was done at the drive-ins in my era. There are still a couple in West Australia.

Yeah a lot many things have changed. Well, I am 22 but I remember the time when we didn't have smartphones and a quality time would mean my girlies hanging out at either of our houses with dolls, legos and delicious food ofcourse. Nowadays, children have started behaving distant too.

Oh.yes. I was about 20 also the last time. We had one still open in a nearby town. I doubt it still is since that was 10 or more years back I heard they were still open. Too many don't even know about them anymore. They were such fun and didn't cost much.

I remember them. Dad always took us, it was inexpensive back then and our family didn't have a lot of money. He'd even get us cokes & pizza or hotdogs sometimes.

There is still one in our little city. I haven't been to it since Pretty was a teenager, though. She always reads off the movies that will be showing the next weekend when we drive past the theater but never tells me she wants to go.
Yes, I enjoyed it and would probably enjoy it if we went and watched something now.
I remember taking blankets and parking the car backwards so we could get into the hatchback and watch the movie that way.

I do miss them. Not sure if the one outside of Kenton is still there. It was a few years ago

There are still a few, and they are very popular. One about 20 miles from me, in the summers it is almost always full of cars every evening.
