I think it'll be a good night.

The sun came out this afternoon and our solar pannals were able to produce a lot. The battery back ups didn't get a full charge, but oh well. It's almost ten o'clock, and by this time last night, I was outside in the rain trying to override the system. I'm thankful that we have power, but I did turn off the kitchen light to save a little power. Having to run the internet to watch t.v. can eat up some power, but the heater doesn't need to run. George asked for ham and chease, which is good. He doesn't always ask for food. I'll take it.

I'm sorry to say this, but your solar panels seem like quite a hassle to deal with. Did you make the choice to get them or did a company pay you to get them?

We did it by choice, and if a company paid me, then I wouldn't be having thease problems. I wouldn't be paying off the equitment, nor would I be stressing over it. That being said, going a week with nothing, is not a life we wanted. It's been working independantly from the grid for weeks with no real issues. Until we got rain. We understood going into it, if we had a prolunged outage and the batteries didn't fully charge, we could lose power.

@kaylachan You are very brave to take on such a challenge by choice and you weren't even paid for it. I wish you the best of luck. You took up solar panels by choice and that is commendable. Not many people would make this choice.

@lilacskies In the more recent years, especially here in Florida, solar has become popular. Given the grid can go down for a week or more, people are finding they need another sorce.

@kaylachan Do you think he may enjoy a different kind of bread, like a soft tortilla that he can roll the ham and cheese into?

So does George, but lately he's decided he doesn't want bread. just meat and chease.

We still have days where his shakes are all he eats, and then we have days like yesterday where he gets hungry and wants more.

Good to know that the sun came out and the solar panels were able to generate some power, even if the battery backups was not up to mark. It sounds like you’ve had quite a stressful time with the system, especially last night in the rain. So, it must have been a great relief to have power now. I think it’s smart to be mindful of energy use by turning off the kitchen light and keeping the heater off. Not many would do that. Watching TV and running the internet can definitely eat up some electricity, but it’s good that you’re staying conscious of it. Nice to hear that George asked for ham and cheese—that’s always a good sign when someone is asking for food, especially when they don’t often do so. Hopefully you would be able to relax a bit after the busy day. Hopefully, things stay sunny for a while so you can get a full charge on those backups! Enjoy the day!

Our system is working better than ever. But, I also have an app that I can see in real-time when something is or isn't working. The system is also smart, too. It prioritized the heater/air. But, the thing is, we're kind in a lull where we sometimes need it and sometimes, don't. I have to be, because our lives depend on the eletricity.
