I just found out that two of my all-time favorite musicians knew each other!

They were from entirely different worlds, but both were open to different musical styles. David Crosby was a master of harmony, and dreamy-sounding tunes. He was a founding member of both The Byrds and Crosby Stills and Nash. Miles Davis was the "king of cool" jazz music. I believe his 1959 recording, Kind of Blue, is still the best-selling jazz album of all time.
Only yesterday (or was it this morning?) did I learn that Miles Davis recorded on of David Crosby's tunes, Guinevere, on one of his albums. I actually figured out the bass line to Miles's version this morning. Overall the song is too "out there" for me to teach to one of my students. But I am going to teach my "never smiles" Russian student All Blues, from Kind of Blue, this week. It's not that hard to play on guitar.
I'll attach a link to an article I just read about Crosby meeting Miles in NY and learning that Miles had recorded one of his tunes. His description is pretty funny.
Revisiting the odd meeting of David Crosby and Miles Davis, which happened after the jazz master covered the Crosby, Stills, and Nash composition 'Guinnevere'.
