What a shameful performance by Trump and JD Vance

OMG I absolutely cannot believe the clips I'm seeing of Trump's meeting with Zelenskyy today. What a horrific and embarrassing attempt at looking like tough guys. Trump was his usual obnoxious and insulting self so no surprise there. I actually got angry when I saw Vance berate Zelenskyy for not thanking them for Ukraine aid during the meeting. Like I physically got angry. What is even more disgusting and shocking is that Trump and Zelenskyy wound up going to separate rooms and Mr. Tough Guy Trump then decided to kick Zelenskyy out of the White House. No deal was signed. No press conference was held. The only thing accomplished was wasting Zelenskyy's time. I am embarrassed for America--both for that disgusting display and because a majority of Americans actually voted for them. Good for Zelenskyy for refusing to back down to them. He is a hero and he and Ukraine deserve our support. Trump's attempt at bullying Zelenskyy deserves our contempt.

I watched some clips. Disgraceful. I think Trump was trying to "get back at" Zelenskyy for Macrin "gently correcting him" the other day by speaking over him.

What a shameful and disgraceful performance by both Trump and Vance. I am so embarrassed to have them as president and vice president.

@NJChicaa I am not embarrassed. I want to act. But I am not sure what to do next. Of course I would never buy a Tesla. "Root" for the couts to act? We are experiencing a coup.

Thanking him for what? What was that? Two grown guys beating up on another guy in broad daylight? Sure wasn't civil discourse or presidential anything.

A great lesson in bullying, intimidation and not allowing the other person to speak.

That was shocking to watch. The guy got mugged. The whole thing was set up with the media, to humiliate Zelenskyy, starting with the stupid question as to why he wasn’t wearing a suit. He wasn’t even allowed to speak. A shameful display by Trump and Vance.

The question about the suit came LONG after Zelenskyy turned the meeting on its head by essentially asking Vance, "What have you done for us?" obviously forgetting the hundreds of billions in support we've sent in munitions and other means of support. Zelenskyy is the one who turned the meeting into a show. Not Trump. And not Vance.

Actually, a majority did not vote for this. He only received a plurality of the vote. The fact is more people who voted cast their votes for other candidates than voted for him. The blame truly lies with the people eligible to vote who stayed home. As an actual percentage of eligible voters, less than 1/3 of Americans eligible to vote chose to vote for him. This is factual information based on reported numbers, not a political statement.

As an Asian living in Asia, I watched the meeting in amusement. They are treating Zelensky as a beggar somehow. That is my thought.

We've listened to most of it and yes, it was bullying at its worse. Their behaviour was just disgraceful.

@NJChicaa I was so, so tempted to comment on another post siding with Trump and saying Zelensky showed no respect. The poor guy couldn't get a word in edgeways!

The world is trying to make sense of the new reality. Like in our individual lives, we cannot depend on anyone when it comes to the crunch.

Why doesn't Z just surrender and hand over his mineral rights to America and Russia ? This was the right time for Z to tell America to get fu*ked. Europe will take it from here.

This was not a shameful performance at all. Was it uncomfortable? Yes. But shameful? Not hardly. Zelenskyy stepped out of line in OUR House, and he got checked is really the only appropriate summation here. The fact is that Zelenskyy has ONLY lasted in the defense of his country off the backs of others willing to step in and help, with the United States being on the front line of that. Trump was right, without help, Ukraine would not have lasted two weeks. Russia would have run them down like buffalo over an ant hill, and Ukraine would not exist today to even talk about. Zelenskyy, to put it succinctly, is playing with fire. Only he doesn't seem to think so. He is living in a delusional world where he thinks he's the only one throwing all the punches and can't see the posse behind him adding to the fight. It reminds me of the little man who puts up his dukes and suddenly the bigger guy cowers in fear. The little man sees this and becomes bold, unaware that ten guys showed up behind him to give him a boost of strength he could never possess on his own. Trump and J.D. Vance did nothing more than remind Zelenskyy, and rightly so, that his ONLY path to peace is through the United States. Not only should he be quite aware of that, but he should also be more appreciative and thankful for our support, rather than come to our country and question the vice president, "What have you done for us? Please explain." He spit in the face of the American people, and he walked over his only chance to end the war. The United States. Zelenskyy is NOT in any position to call any shots or expect not to have make concessions or compromise. If the United States walks away from Ukraine, Ukraine is finished. It's as simple as that. All Trump and Vance did was to say to Zelenskyy, "We want peace. Do you?" And if the answer is yes, it's time to understand how you will get there, and what cards you truly have in your hand before you place your bets.
