I Woke Up To This Song

I don't remember whether it was this morning or the other one, but I did. It was playing… in my head. Has it ever happened to you? Having a song playing in your mind as soon as you wake up? It was weird but in a good way, I wonder if someone was thinking of me while listening to it the night before. I'm not sure, I don't think it's very famous. Does any of you know Jeff Scott Soto? I've listened to very few songs and this is very unlikely to be his best one. However, if you want to give it an ear, go ahead and let me know what you think. Or maybe you can just read the lyrics and "shed a tear". I did. The lyrics don't make sense to me but I felt them somehow, and cried a little. Not much to say about the rest of the day, I was tired and grumpy most of the time until I had my second coffee: I don't know why but I felt cheerful as if I had a couple glasses of wine. Red wine, of course. I also went for a walk this evening. This is the second night in a row but I doubt there will be a third one. The town at night hits differently, it really does. The smell especially, the air is more polluted but it also brings back old memories.

@Dreamerby I don't feel too safe either, actually I do pray while walking at night. Yet it isn't too late when I go out, I make sure to get back home before 10 PM.

@rakski Does it happen later in the day? It usually does for me, this was so early.

I don't think this has ever happened to me. And I'm not familiar with this artist.

@kareng I guess it might be uncommon then. I know having songs popping in mind is frequent but as soon as you wake up, that was so strange. I couldn't forget the way we don't forget strange dreams.

@somewitch Oh the dreams for sure. I still remember a recurring one from my childhood that I didn't like, but it would happen over and over again. It was weird.

@wolfgirl569 Yeah, I figured he isn't well known. He does hard rock but this song is a ballad therefore calm and romantic.

@somewitch it is really catchy, indeed, thank you. o, maybe we could conquer it might seem similar but as you said it, it has some special feature. it would be great as a soundtrack, i agree!

@grenery8 Celebcelebcelebcelebceleeeb! Yeah, I'm not surprised this one got stuck, it's very catchy. And it makes me feel like I can conquer the world. The one I shared is a rock ballad apparently, these songs tend to all sound alike but I could tell it was this one. Well, I'm listening to it again now and it could also work as a theme for a drama series.

I've never heard of that artist before, but yes, this has happened to me on multiple occasions. It's always because of songs I listen to before I head to bed and then when I wake up again, I hear the songs in my head.

@lilacskies Glad I'm not alone! Well, having one playing this early happened once only but I hear songs quite often, especially those that come from commercials. Other times, it's a single word that triggers a whole song.

@somewitch Haha Yep! Happens to me all the time! It's actually a nice way to wake up. I love music anyway, so why not?

I am not sure about getting songs stuck in my head first thing in the morning, but it does happen during the day for sure. Good tune!

Sometimes I will sing a song that I have heard before but only to myself. Not out loud.

@jstory07 Same, as long as I remember the lyrics. Sometimes I barely remember the tune. Then it's so frustrating when a song plays in my mind but I forget the title.

In my teen years I hardly ever turned the radio off except at night but by then there were some tunes that kept playing in my mind.

@RasmaSandra So you didn't need the radio at night, your mind was enough. Speaking of radio, we used to have an alarm clock radio and I remember I'd mumble the song that would play in the morning while I was still asleep. I guess it could make it into my dream. I rarely speak in my sleep but I could surely "sing".

Lol!, that's such a relatable feeling! It definitely happens to me sometimes waking up with a random song playing on repeat in my head, like my brain picked its own soundtrack for the day. Funny how music sneaks in like that. And hey, maybe someone was thinking of you while listening to it! I haven't heard much of Jeff Scott Soto, but now I'm curious. I'll check out the song and the lyrics—you've sold it well if it brought you to tears. And yes, evening walks hit so differently! There's something nostalgic about the night air, even if it's not the freshest. It’s like the world slows down and old memories sneak up on you. Hopefully, you'll surprise yourself and go for that third night. Sometimes the quiet moments are the best part of the day. By the way, do you remember which song it was exactly?

@Kosgey I didn't go for a third one, but really, smell is known to trigger nostalgia more than any other sense. The song is in the YouTube link below the discussion, Beginning 2 End. YouTube suggested me better tracks the following days anyway.
