Finally did it

Daughter was just finishing highschool. I was working in a cat clinic, cleaning cages, washing cats, trimming their nails, helping the Vet, busy, busy. Daughter sketched the resident Head Honcho cat, Sydney. He was a big black and white Manx- no tail. He had been a stray then the clinic adopted him. From time to time, as need came, Sydney donated blood to ill inmates. Sydney had a dignified air to him. He was friendly but quiet. I had daughter's sketch but had never gotten around to doing anything with it. A couple of weeks ago I decided it was time. I bought a frame off a person on Etsy. Hubby put Sydney near the door frame that leads into our kitchen. He is home, protected behind glass.

You did well putting that cute drawing behind glass. Your daughter is talented. I can barely manage stick figures.

Thanks @lilacskies- maybe when you're older you will be interested in drawing? I have been a stick figure drawing poet all my life but am now having fun exploring simple drawing. It's another opportunity to speak with daughter.

@sallypup You are welcome. Maybe. That's a cool hobby to get into. It can be a great distraction for me too. I like adult coloring books. Have you ever tried them? Maybe you and your daughter can try coloring together as a bonding experience. There are lots of adult coloring books under $5 online and I suggest online because stores tend to charge $10 and up. You can use coloring pencils, markers, or gel pens. My preference is glittery gel pens. Unscented. I don't like the scented gel pens. They are kind of gross.

@lilacskies Scented pens give me a headache. Good idea about the adult coloring books.

Sydney has been memorialized in this lovely sketch by your daughter. And now he has an official place of honor .

@much2say You're right, thanks. I still know a Vet who used to work at the clinic. I'll probably drop her a line and tell her that Sydney is still with us.

I like it. I missed having a pet cat. I may have one in the future. For now, it is not possible because my two dogs won't allow a whisker at home.

@BelleStarr Sydney was handsome. He was neutered late in life so he had that round bull head.
