Bathroom from Hades.

The bathroom in this house is enormous, bigger than my bedroom - too big a space to house just a shower, wash hand basin and a toilet, and the ceiling is extra high. The window is set higher in the wall than I can reach, which would be a problem for letting out steam from the shower if there was any hot water but the water is cold. Oh the water is cold. When the would-be showeree turns on the tap the pipes rumble and then an assault of liquified ice rushes from on high. I don’t mind since cold showers are my preference, but it’s still a bit of a shock. Outside in the crisp morning sunshine Natalie’s ducks are revelling in cold water too and the fields are smart with frost. Natalie bonjoured me when I came outside to look for heat in the morning sunshine. She emerged from among her fowl with eggs for breakfast, and my nephew Louis brought me a steaming bowl of coffee to keep me going while I waited for the scrambling of the eggs.

Good that you have preference for cold showers. Even I go for one at room temperature for most part of the year. Sounds like an old house in some rural area or outskirts of the city. We have such huge rooms, bathrooms and high ceilings in the houses that we have in our nature village.

When our hot water heater broke down years ago I learned I could take a shower in icy water but I certainly didn't enjoy it. And it may have been the fastest showers ever taken in the history of humankind. At least you had the pleasure of hot coffee and scrambled eggs to help your day along.

@daddyevil I must say that I like a really cold shower. Of course a gentleman tends to become somewhat shrivelled under such conditions.

@xFiacre True... we just have to hope we don't need a strong reflex right after the cold shower.

I know cold showers are meant to have health benefits but I'm not sure I could bring myself to voluntarily start with one.

@fleura I feel invigorated after a good cold shower. I used to plunge in the sea all winter long before I realised everybody’s poo took the plunge just up the coast.

I am not really fond of cold showers in winters or rainy season.
