Sweets

I keep reading about the bad effects of sweets on our body. I only thought they will lead to diabetes, tooth decay and weight gain but there is more This is what Google has to say "Sugar may also be linked to depression, inflammation, joint pain, liver disease, and skin aging. Sugar can disrupt sleep, which can lead to fatigue and irritability. Sugary drinks may shorten telomeres, which can increase the risk of age-related diseases like diabetes. Fructose from added sugar can damage the liver and lead to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). " I have a sweet tooth and have never controlled my urge to eat sweets. And I do not think I can easily give up sweets. What about you?

I have diabetes and I still have sweets, but I am careful to try and stay away from Fructose. When I drove I taxi I was always stopping at a store and grabbing a candy bar or ice cream. I found out I was diabetic, and knew I had to slow down or quit eating sweets. I have always heard that if you do away with something for 2 weeks, you won't crave whatever you want to give up. That isn't really true with sweets, but it helped me to reduct my intake. I went to eating nuts, pork rinds, or sunflower seeds.

I see you have finally done what neends to be done. I will find it extremely difficult as I am not a diabetic and I have a sweet tooth But now when I read that it affects our joints and skin I may try and do what you have done

Some people find it hard to give up certain foods they are accustomed to using for years, but when it comes to my health l would give it up without thinking twice. I have health issues and l wish l had started eating healthy long before 2004. However l still see a lot of benefits - like l don't get colds or the flu and my weight remains at 110 lbs.

When it comes to other foods I do it easily I do not eat meat and fish and this since over 5 yers. It all started with Covid I did not want the maid to stand in line to get the stuff. Now I am used to it and do not miss that any more But when it comes to sweets that is another story
