I save all the money I find on the ground for the whole year. It was not that much from last year. I have found no money so far this year. I have a big jar that I use to save all of my change in. I use it for my husband and I for Christmas. I save all of the money from the bottles and cans. Oregon charges you ten cents per bottle and cans. Than you go and turn them in and get all of your dimes back. Usually I take six bags which is abut $60 for all of the cans and bottles. That goes into my fund to help the homeless. So that is money not for my savings. Which is a good thing to help others. From my checking account I have one dollar transferred into my savings for every check I write and for every time I use my debit card/ That is good way to save money.

I brew my own coffee in the office canteen and whenever possible I would eat in my canteen as it is much cheaper.

That sounds like a good way to save $ we use to save aluminum cans & back in the early 80's collect glass bottles & jars to all recycle but the recycling business has really dropped to get any decent $ for. As far as finding extra change that's not happening either these days with as tight as $ is, Well not enough to celebrate for that is unless people have $ to throw away, & I'd like to know them kind of people.

I haven't been out and about much since July of 2023 when construction on I10 began, I found instacart thankfully so had food delivered whenever I needed to restock on something. It actually did save me a little money and a whole lot of time, using instacart means I don't need to take a shower thereby saving water & electricity plus I don't have to wash clothes as often, I only have the kitters to worry about and they don't seem to mind when I get stinky

Every recyclable thing that I can sell is sold to the waste collector every month. I am happy with whatever little comes back to me. I will use it for myself or donate it for some cause( last month I made the donation for an organisation that takes care of stray cats and dogs). Sometimes we will just buy some treat and enjoy. I am happy to not only get some money from the waste but also to be able to reduce the littering. It goes to the right person for recycling.

You are so sweet to donate to the homeless. I also have a coin jar for my loose change. If I find loose change on the ground, I always pick it up and add it all to my coin jar. I only buy needs, not wants with the exception of gifts for my family and the very occasional treat to myself.

Well this is a subject I could write a whole series about! But I guess one key thing for us is that we always take packed lunches to school/ work/ any days out, and often a flask of tea or coffee as well. My parents always did the same, and buying things like sandwiches or fancy coffees certainly adds up, especially nowadays with coffee shops absolutely everywhere! It might not seem that much to spend, but at £3 or £4 a time for a coffee, and a pound or two more for a sandwich, maybe with a drink or biscuit or packet of crisps on top of that, every day for several people, it really does add up to a lot. Of course an occasional treat is OK, and everyone needs a treat now and then! I'm going to write a post about another thing I like to do.

I must have visited a hair salon a little over a dozen times in my entire life. I do my own hair most of the time.
