With the wind chill increasing by the moment I decided to stay home today. Welcome to March in the Ohio Valley.
Oh, my, how will Chuy’s survive without me eating there today.
I’ll be there tomorrow. Today I stay home, stay warm, and give you another song from 1985. Hey, look, one you may have heard of!
How Will I Know - Whitney Houston
Oh, how I wish Whitney Houston had sung a little more like this and practiced those awful, ear-splitting vocal gymnastics she did later. And wow, did I love to roller skate to this song.
Yeah, I know. I’m the weirdo who doesn’t like her version of Iiiiiiiiiii will alllllllllllllllllwayyyyyyzzzzzzz over sing this sonnnnnnnnnnnng. But I grew up with Dolly’s version, and that was a tough act to follow. This is the Whitney I prefer: fun and upbeat.
And for you trivia buffs, this song was originally written for Janet Jackson, but she turned it down. Bet she spent a few years kicking herself over that.
How Will I Know
Written by George Merrill, Shannon Rubicam, and Narada Michael Walden
Recorded by Whitney Houston
From Whitney Houston, 1985

What a voice and so heartbreaking that it ended so tragically.

I know. I have an aversion to anything stronger than Tylenol for fear of getting addicted.

Big Whitney fan here. I love most of her stuff, including this one. She had a great voice and was a looker. Sadly taken too soon.
I’m also sorry to say that, as much as I liked Dolly’s version of “I Will Always Love You”, I think Whitney takes it to a whole new level.

I know I’m the odd woman out when it comes to that, but growing up with Dolly I can’t help it.

We knew it right away, both song and artist (and lyrics).

Not one of my favorite Whitney songs. Hope you are being safe and having a good day.
