This is a photo of Gunnar listening to a 4-piece rock 'n roll band playing rock music way too loud. I would guess it was at about 115 dB, which is not safe. I don't know whose students they were. They were funny. They were about 15 and seemed to take themselves pretty seriously. The music was pretty bad, but at least they were close to in-tune.
Gunnar had already rocked Wild Thing, and was just being polite and listening to the other students. I snapped this photo and then left the room. I don't think I can hear above 13 khz or so, and I don't it to get worse. Have you ever been to a concert where the music was way too loud? My worst was a Yes concert in the 1970s. My ears rang for days.
What will Gunnar and I work on next, you ask? I hoping I can get him to sing and play Stevie Ray Vaughn's Pride and Joy with me at the next Showcase. I enjoy teaching him.

@lilacskies I am also younger than most of them. And most of the music I have played over the years has been "acoustic," not heavily amplified rock 'n roll.

@TheHorse That is unfortunate, but compared to the other guys, you are faring better then.

Yes to the concert. Years ago I was persuaded by a work colleague to go to a concert by Emiliana Torrini, who I had never heard of, but she sounded interesting, and she was playing at a local venue. Unfortunately the support band - I don't even remember their name - were way too loud. My ears rang for days afterwards and ever since then I have not been able to hear bats, which I could always hear before. I was 36. Many people can't understand why I was upset about that because they could never hear the bats in the first place, but for me that really felt like the beginning of the end, the slippery slope of losing my faculties.
