Night garden.

I’ve just been out to the garden. I can’t remember why I went out there in the dark (9 pm here) but I’m glad I did.
So quiet it was, and the earth smelled good to my nose after a day of sunshine and showers. The air was cool on my face and I could taste the atmosphere.
Earlier, while the sun was out and a distant neighbour was gossiping on her phone inside the house at full volume, I bedded in a wee saxifragia (Pearl White) and a Hebe (Lady Anne). I planted lillies.
Now the garden is a different place under a mottled, charcoal cover of cloud. A very slight breeze left the hellebore nodding its cream coloured flowers and the tulips have closed their yellow and red petals into a protective cup for the night.

I no longer go outside after dark. I can't see well enough to avoid any holes or rocks that might trip me.

I used to love going out at night in my garden in Latvia especially when there was a full moon,
