The tax woman has slipped up.

I checked online today to see where I sit with regard to what I owe in taxation, and it is not a pleasant place to sit. In fact the view is quite unsettling.
The boffins are a bit confused regarding my employment status. They are labouring under the illusion that I work for a living as well as receiving a pension!!!
They propose taxing me on my work pension, state pension and my income as an employee even though I retired in January 2024.
I’m not really concerned because their mistake will be ironed out when I send in my tax return in April. It’s just annoying that they assume someone is paying me £35,000 as well as a pension, and work is being done.
Somebody is not pressing the correct key on their keyboard or has not bothered entering the details I sent them regarding my non-working status.
I wouldn’t object to paying tax on £35,000 if I was actually receiving the money.

That must be very frustrating for you to deal with.
